thats funny I did not notice the finger, I will take it down if you guys find it offensive, but really I just wanted to show the sunroof before I removed all the parts.

Well, the shop that did my '69 in Salem Oreogn did an overall nice job with the actual work, but I wasn't impressed with how certain things were done, and that they welded the rear bumper supports in with one too high and forgot to cut the antenna hole in the new fender.     :shruggy:

$24,000.00 and 9 months later, I got it back about 75% as assembled as when I dropped it off.

It's your car, so if you want to give them a shot, it's Chuck Dabler Auto Body:

$24 grand, huh?  How much work went into the car?  Was it a roller?

Joshua

There's Rocket Restorations in Olympia, they only do Mopars.... :2thumbs:.... http://www.rocketresto.com/

I visited them a year ago to see about having them repair all my rust issues....very nice guys. There shop was full.....a couple of Chargers, a Daytona, a Roadrunner and a few others.....
The work I saw was nice....and the quote they gave me was very reasonable.....I just didn't have the $$$ at the time.....

Does anyone know of any shops like that in  Northern Nevada such as Reno Nevada, carson city etc.? since we are on the subject. I appologize for interupting the topic.

New right fender, new complete quater panels, new front and rear valances, new hood, new trunk floor, new trunk floor extensions, new outer wheel wells, both doors replaced with used ones from a different car, some minor welding in the floor pans (extra seat mounting holes etc), media blasting entire car, prep work and painting.

Here is the thread of my restoration, you can see from the photos what was done.

All parts except the doors were supplied by me, so most of the cost was labor.

Twentyfour grand for labor sounds about right.  From looking at your earlier post (with photos of your car in the yard) I'm hoping you have lots of parts already on-hand, or perhaps a donor car?  If not, you're looking at another $10 to $20K (depending on how far towards "restored" you really want to go).  Sadly, this isn't a cheap hobby anymore.  Back in the day, you could go junking and find a lot of the stuff you needed to put a car back on the road.  It might not be a "correct" car in the sense that it was built by the factory that way, but decent none-the-less.  With the price of scrap steel being so high these days, along with the environmental (and all the other) regulations faced by the yards, the parts simply aren't there.  Another problem I'm finding is that 1968 was almost 45-years ago now, and the folks in the auto-repair business these days mostly don't have much of a clue as to the technology being used at that time.  The ones that still do are aging-out at an alarming rate now.  Damn, I guess that means that I'm getting a little older too.

Thanks Brass, UH60L and Joshua for the referrals, I will be sure to follow up and give them a call.  I was able to get a hold of one of my Dads friends who restores cars in Marysville, just 45 mins from home, he looked at the car a few days ago and said he would help out with the first step, taking whats left apart, media blasting and primer seal.  This is huge step in the right direction.  We are going to get started right away, I will be sure to post pics.
@ Bakerhillpins the car is a R/T, 440-4 spd, Dana 60, which is all missing.  My interior was swapped out with tan junk that was later stolen with other stuff while sitting in a storage yard years ago.  I removed everything I could that was valuable but there was not much left, glad they did not go after the sunroof stuff or the dash.  I know my block and trans are floating around somewhere in Washington, anyone know if there is still a mopar block list around?  thought a few years back I found a website that had listings for missing engine blocks.
Thanks again for your feedback!

Chopper pilot?

Mechanic/Crew Chief/Technical Inspector....all on Blackhawks for the last 23 years between active and guard.  I love the aircraft, but I have more fun with my charger.  :-)

bull

There are some good ones down here in Portland such as Bill Dallas at East Portland Auto Body. He knows Chargers very well and owns/owned several. He does great work but there's only bad thing I'd say about him: when he quotes you something like $12k it's going to end up being $16k and when he says $7k he really means about $12k. So yea, whatever the quote is I'd add about $4k-$5k to it in your head.

Smith Brothers Restorations is another reputible place out there in Appleton, Wa. I've had them do some work for me and will be having them do more. http://www.smithbrosrestorations.com/
