headlight switch application

Help needed from Mopar family;
I am building a 70 Superbird clone and I am using new m & h wiring under the dash and hood/ headlight harnesses for a 70' dodge charger hemi so I can use the electric motor instead of the vacuum system the Sb used to raise and lower the pop up headlights.  Here is my problem, the headlight motor relay is getting power all the time from both the blue and light green wires leading into it and both wires leading to the motor are powered when the headlights are on, there is no switching as there should be.  What I think I have done is use the switch from the Road Runner instead of the 70' Charger, my question is are the two switches interchangeable?, if not, that is where the problem lies.
Can you guys assist me with this question.
