71 b-body charger

Alright i dont know if im posting this in the right area, but i screwed up on taking the bad roof off my 71 charger to the point where I was told its un-fixable and i got thinking is there a way to turn one of these older cars into a convertible?? I know they didnt come stock but ive already put money into the car and its not gonna be a parts matching car, so is it possible to buy a kit??

I've seen a few 2nd Gen convertibles, but never a third Gen.  I doubt there is a kit, either.  If you want to do this, you'll need to fabricate alot of the parts needed.

There's no such thing as unfixable. It may not be worth fixing, but it certainly can be fixed. Doing a convertible is going to mean fabbing a new package tray and dutchman. You will want a set of sub connectors and torque boxes if you're going to drive roofless. Honestly it's probably going to be easier to put a replacement skin back on. How close to Central Ohio are you? I've always wanted to see a 3gen droptop!

for a Charger conv version, I think looks way better a 3rd gen than a 2nd gen... and maybe even better a 4th gen.

I would rather see a 3rd gen with T-Tops.

mauve66

surmanajaja

damn 3rd gen looks better without a roof than with it! it reminds me a lof of e-body converts, especially challenger.

Poor choice of words I guess. While the car looks awesome and at a poor eye sight glance ( I'm old) it had a similarity from the doors back.

bugsydog

as a 3rd gen owner,I like the look....... i know of a plain jane 73 charger that the roof is in really bad shape and really cheap...i might have to start another project and go topless :coolgleamA:

Wicked72

i never liked convertibles but its surprising to see that the 3rd gen looks awsome topless..weird :scratchchin:

Thanks for all the great ideas, I found another car in MINT condition for 3750 Now just gotta get some cash saved up. If i get this on car will be done with in a month... All it needs is a new paint job, a front window, and a motor put in. I have the motor in my car in my garage as im writing this so ive got 1 covered.

Same as a 4th gen.  And I'd drive it, after adding some horns to the hood.
