Hey guys - Planning on doing some quick work on a 318...    budget reasons dictate that I do it on the cheap plus the 318 is the most reliable engine ever it seem so...     any help would be appreciated as I am normally a new gen hemi or big block guy...

The plan: Disassemble the 318 I have, rings, bearings, and general clean up. New gaskets throughout, new timing chain, timing chain tensioner, 4bbl intake and a 600cfm Edelbrock carb. Stock exhaust manifolds.

The only think I was thinking about is the cam...   thinking of just going with a 340 4bbl cam just for a little more sound and performance with the 4bbl intake and carb.

I figure the 340 cam would still work with power brakes without an issue as 340 cars came with optional power brakes...     The car will also have A/C and cruise control.

Anyone have any suggestions for the build I overlooked?   This engine is only temporary until I find better employment and then I will be dropping in a 5.7 Hemi.
