Who's running a electronic ignition M&H angine harness in a 68 or 69?

First off, I'd love it if you posted some pics of your engine compartment so I can see where you placed everything.

Second, I'm going to have to call M&H to figure this out I guess but without a schematic I'm confused why there's a four pin ballast connection in the harness they sold me. As near as I can figure out this type of ballast is not needed with the newer style four pin Mopar orange box modules. Apparently it's the older five pin modules require the extra resistor. I can't just tie two of the wires back since they use a double connectors. Can I just plug them in to the four pin ballast and assume half of it just won't be doing anything?

yep - you can just not hook up to the bottom terminals on the ballast...         :2thumbs:

Yes, if you can live with the big four pin ballast resistor on your fire wall you can do that. The four pin ballast resistor is physical to independent resistors, the upper part reduce voltage to the coil, and the lover part supply the early 5 pin ECU. With your 4 pin ECU it won't be doing anything, other than put voltage on the unused pin in the ECU plug ;)
You can also use a single resistor as the original and only plug in the upper part of the two dual harness connectors.

What I will do, only takes 5 minutes and a really small screwdriver, remove the 4 terminals from the dual connectors and mount them in some single Terminal Shells like this:

Maby reuse some black ones from a old harness.
Use a single original looking ballast resistor.

The ECU I will mount on top off the engine behind the intake, on a bracket like this:

think what M&H have prolly done is , make a 69 harness with the exact ignition set up in a factory harness for the 70 model year  , which used a 5 pin ecu .

here is a picture of the  engine bay   , although i used M&H harneses , i did my own take on the Mad amp meter by pass & got a little carried away,   :slap:
so doubt its much use , as its far from stock looking

Feel free to post any relevant picture you think we all might like to see in the threads below!

I used the same set up, no modifications.

yes, it is a '69 harness with '70 ECU, distributor, ballast, alternator and voltage regulator connectors

Thanks. It's kind of hard to see but it looks like the three wire connector and resistor notch are on the right; is that correct?

http://www.evanswiring.com/  will make a 68 engine harness with built in MP electronic ignition / regulator that uses the 2 pin ballast.

M+H will makes one with the electronic conversion done.

It uses the 4 pin ballast , but the 4 pin ballast is only required if the car has a 5 pin ECU
