Yeah that column is red but that maroon ain't paint!!! It's not suprising I crawled into a mid 90's Ram back in 99 that had had taken a hard front impact, I was trying to get the center console out when I noticed what looked like brain matter, I asked the guys about it and they stated "yeah 4 teens were out joy riding in it and 2 were killed" I about puked.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

That's (what's left of) a B-body, not a Fury.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

TUFCAT

You guys are right. Cut it in half and "salvage" the rear clip only.... theres not much value sitting there anyway.

Don't feel sorry for driver,,would feel sorry for anyone he hurt and any kids or family he  left behind...

driver  built or got a car with lots of mods,,but not for safty...  desided to drive beyond his ablity and cars or road conditions and paided a heavy price..  no disc brakes or cage and safty harness. looks like high speed and a block wall or pine trees and block building.  without more info it looks like 1 car, speed and solid object,,big mess.

But why should it all be scrapped, not the cars fault and lots of useable parts and lots of mess too.. ive got lots of parts from wrecking yards and seen lots of blood and even teeth in steering wheels .messy and sad but it is all part of life and cars and speeding.  :Twocents:

You have no idea what happened here, or do you? For all we know someone hit him and he then lost control or maybe he had a heart attack driving down a highway. Anyway, its sad when anyone is hurt or loses a life even if they were stupid. We all have been stupid. No?

Yes. Some one should chop saw the front half off and scrap it, and part the rest. Ave some respect, but save what can be.

Amazing but last I heard the guy is alive.   Was a gorgeous car not too long ago.    Story is that it's was stolen from Bob Mosher.

Well said,
I've wrecked a car at pretty good speed due to a stuck throttle flat out. Yes turning the key off is easy to say but in a panic situation where you have seconds it's not always the first thing you think of.

A buddy and myself saw a F-150 in a wrecking yard that must have hit a concrete pillar or something at high speed. The engine and transmission were standing straight up and there was gray splatter on the headliner, not pretty.......

I never can get over people who focus only on HP and fail to look at the brake and suspension running stock 4 wheel drums? Really? I understand way back when this is what they had but with today's upgrades why neglect this??? Im not saying this caused the wreck (IDK what did) but I just always shake my head when I see 4 wheel drums on a built car, my Dart has 4 wheel drums and I could never imagine having a built 426 and trying to stop quick!!! My buddy had a 67 Dart with 4 wheel drums and it had a built 440 that was a strict track car only (narrowed Dana and slicks) and that thing would swere like no end at the track when the brakes were applied!!! made my eyes bug out of my head and I was not driving!!

That's what car makers did in the 60's...

GOTWING

There was a older fellow here in northern Delaware a few months ago slid his 70 Cuda into a pole and cut the car clean in half, the engine seperated and was lying in the field. It was a blue Cuda with Viper wheels and a full cage, di not help, he died. I think he was 62 years old, shame.

Indygenerallee

Gotwing, I think I remember seeing those pics of the Cuda, that one was a mess!

TUFCAT

Agreed. Front disc brakes should've been a mandatory upgrade on a performance build like this. But without details who knows if it was a factor. :shruggy:

The factory drum brake system will stop as good as discs - for the first couple of hard stops until they get hot. :eek2:  Then watch out! :o

Hell, just trying to stop in a straight line is hard enough regardless.

That doesn't look like a wreck to me. Looks like something fell on it.

Cooter

I wouldn't think if something fell on it that the rear wheel would be bent, but that's just me. :shruggy:

Well, the majority of the damage is in the front, right? No matter what it hit, or what hit it, rear rims aren't commonly bent during a front-end collision. It either slid across something on that side or something slid across it and the rim got hooked.

The blood on the steering collumn indicates something bad happened. :(

Unfortunatley I see this stuff all the time, I could tell some really graphic stories. Be carefull out there guys!

This is true. The speculation is all moot until we get some facts (which don't seem to be readily availiable). What's odd is all the greenery and what looks like concrete particles all over the car. It almost looks like he rear-ended a truck hauling shrubs and cinder blocks that fell off and landed on it.

I had one of these Bob Mosher built cars. It was a 64 savoy 2 door sedan with a 650 HP 472 ci crossram hemi and 4 speed. The car was very fast but had the factory 10 inch drum brakes that it came with as a 6 cylinder car. On the freeway I hammered it and was above 100 mph in no time. As I was approching slower moving traffic I had to slam on the brakes and nearly rearended someone. Right away I converted it to disc brakes and it made a world of difference. It was really a death trap the way it was set up. I ended up selling it at Barrett-Jackson a few years ago.

My thoughts as well. Might have went off the road (possibly over a curb hence the damage to the rear wheels), & into a building or structure of some sort due to the debris. Hitting a stationary object such as a building seems plausable, the amount of damage is just massive.

Definitely gives second thoughts on driving habits on the streets. One can only hope the driver survived.

Wow! What a shame!

I really could have done without seeing the bloody steering column though!

It's pretty hard to imagine that anyone could have survived that!

I may be schizophrenic but at least I have us!

Reminds me of this one.  Don't look too hard cause there's pieces in there  :eek2:.   Disc brakes didn't help this one.  This was posted around other sites before but like the other,  only guesses why it happened.
