Those of you that have recovered your seats, or had them recovered:

Did you need new seatback boards and what condition were your seats in?   Are the reproductions worth it?

I redid them in my 1st gen but I don't recall any boards, is this a later gen thing?

on my 69, I ended up getting the repro thick cardboard and had to change over the hardware (hooks and metal bracket on the bottom) and it was a major pain.  The cardboard also did not hold its shape.  I ended up finding an original pair of seat backs made of the fiberboard and just recovered them.  They are holding up a LOT better and are also original.

So it is a later generation thing then.  Is this just to hold the shape for the back of the seat or what exactly?

Ah, okay, those are plastic on the 1st gens.  I thought it was something on the inside of the seat you were talking about.
