Well how about Chargers under sheds :icon_smile_big:

A little history on this Charger.
It belongs to my older cousin. He bought this car in 1970 from the original owner. Its a true R/T 440 car, auto. It was B5 blue with black vinyl top and black RT stripe.

From the first day of ownership, the Charger was on the dragstrip and has been there ever since. I was turning wrenches on this car from the time I was 11 years old. My cousin parked the Charger right where it sits now 12 years ago. Engine disassembled in the garage. The old girl has really went downhill sitting there :'( I am currently trying to negotiate a purchase price for her and would put her back on the street. Of course I would need a ton of parts, including all the glass. Only thing in the interior from the factory is the steering column. She has a Dana with a 5.13 gear and a 727 with a brake.

Its all steel except for the hood. Best it ever ran was 6.90's (1/8th) with the tunnel ram and 650 flat tappet cam. We are WAY off on price right now. He still thinks everything is new and worth LIKE NEW prices :shruggy:

I will get some more pics soon. He has a 440 block and a set of 6pack rods I will be getting there very soon.

Cool car, hope you can save the old girl.

i like the big fat tires in the rear. the aluminium wing, not so much. i hope you do get it and get her going again, although since it's been drag raced, the shell will probably be in bad shape.

FlatbackFanatic

Cool looking 69. Hope you two can work out a price. :2thumbs:

The body and frame are in pretty good shape. I agree, the wing would go. He drilled a lot of holes in the decklid to mount it :brickwall:
He also drilled a lot of holes around the inner doors too (save a couple pounds)

The Charger would need 2 doors, decklid, hood and a complete interior. I think I have enough glass for it already along with a few interior parts and a complete grill. The grill is in good shape, but he gutted the pods and stuff. The rear fenderwells were cut and widened. They actually look pretty much stock though. Enough room for some good sized meats back there.

If I had it I would repaint it black and put the blower motor in it if I ever get it built.

UPDATE:

Some things have changed since I first started this thread. My cousin learned 2 months ago he had bone cancer and he passed away last week. Before he died, he told his son (who would inherit the Charger) to give me first shot at the Charger if he decided to sell.

I had a set of my cousins 915 heads that I took back and gave his son and he told me he was going to call me. His son does not have the time or money to put into the Charger so he is willing to sell. He hasnt priced it yet, but he should call me soon and hopefully we can work out a deal.

I miss my cousin like crazy and it would be awesome if I could at least take the old girl down the strip one more time. Needless to say, if I do get this car I probably wont be able to do the blower build for a while longer.

I did learn one thing from my cousin before he passed. The Charger was actually white on white with a black vinyl top. I always thought the car was b5 blue, I guess because that is my earliest memory of it.

Sorry to hear about your cousin, but if you do get the car and are interested in selling that rear spoiler, let me know...

Charger4404spd

Finally got some pics uploaded I thought I would share.

This was in the early 70's, not sure of the exact year, but probably not long after my cousin got the car in 70.

Some of the first days on the track.

This is my first memories of the car when he started taking me to the track with him. Around early '80s.

I love those 70's photos, the car looks so tough!

myk

The car looked great in the 90's-it's amazing what a few years of neglect will do to a car.  In any case, it's equally shocking to hear about your cousin and you have my sympathies.  I hope that you can carry on the legacy of your cousin by returning that car to its former glories...

Thanks guys, I will let you know what happens.

FJMG

My condolences on the passing of your cousin and thanks for sharing those great pics! I am with myk on this one, clean-ur-up and run it just the way it is! It was probably stock for only a few weeks of it's life although quite the interesting color combo!

Mikesmoparperformance

My condolences 2 on the passing of your cousin. White on white with a black vinyl top is very rare combo! Cool picturers If i was you i would keep it a dragster in memory of you're cousin! And never change it.

Sorry bout your Cousin Bro. I know what it means to lose a close loved one. Especially to a sh*tty disease like Cancer.
Too bad you and he couldn't get that thing back on the road and take one more ride before he began racing at the track in the sky.

Loved the look in the first pic. I guess I'm partial to slotts on Chargers. Good luck and lemme know if I can help if you get it.

I dont know why, but the pictures from 70s all way through the 90s look best. Something that i captures the moment that is true and sincere vs 21st century everything is now 'staged' to act like its happeneing, but in reality its fake for publicity or something.

Funny how it seems that these cars were not only modified heavily in the engine bay shortly after they were bought, but apparently folks changed the colors almost immediately too. Can see the white interior. Man that must have gotten dirty quick when racing.  I think mine was painted black early in its life too as it was apparently street raced quite a bit in the 70s in NYC.

Yeah, I wonder if that was because a lot of cars were purchased off the lot instead of ordered and may have been compromises based on what was available to make a deal on?

UPDATE:

Well I just got screwed from a family member. :flame: Imagine that :brickwall:

Long story short, he sold it to another local guy for more than he priced it to me for. I told him on Friday I would be over on Saturday to give the car a good look. Arrived Saturday and car was gone. Wonder why he wouldnt answer his phone??? :shruggy:

Oh well, back to the blower motor! :2thumbs:
