69 dodge charger
   318 5.2l
   302 heads
   Performer cam
   HEI Dist
   Hedman headers with cutouts
   Performer intake
   650 double pumper holley carb
   3.23 gears
904 – fresh rebuild with tci kit
   2k torque converter
Some driving experience

VS

1993 corvette
   Stock - 5.7L 300 hp V8
              Auto
              High way gears

              Little driving experience

Cant wait to see how the cars perform at the track

Ghoste

Tough call but since I automatically have to root for the Charger, I'm going to say driver experience will win the day.

FLG

It will be tough...but youll both be driving slowly  :D

Ill say 15's or so

Just get your R.T dialed in and youll stand a better chance as its probably going to come down to driver, hold the brakes and get the revs up a bit, when you see that last amber light...go for it.

RallyeMike

These cars are slow enough that driving experience does not count for much (except maybe a red light).

Not unlikely chances are the Holley is not spot on tune, so I'll bet on the FI car (Vette).

Sorry.

I don't know that i agree with that Mike.  To be sure in a fast car driving experience makes a big difference but in a slow car if one of those drivers has little to no drag racing experience it can show up in that situation too.  How many first timers have gone to the track with a killer combination and run 15's?  (I've seen a few)

mopar0166

thanks for all the comments, i ve been going to the track for a couple years with different cars.   the charger has been there a bunch as well.  im thinking with the 904 trans and 323 gears i got a chance.

the holley is adjusted when we get to the track along with a hand ful of other things.

should be a good time

69rtse4spd

That's all that matters having a good time. Rip the vet a new one, & you might just make him see the light of MOPAR POWER.

mopar0166

it'll be te last run for the small block , so hopefully it doesnt let me down

I didnt expect it it to a popular choice not being the Charger, but knowing nothing else than what is stated it's the best guess. Neither of these are "killer combos", and on a sticky drag strip with highway gears.... both cars are basically point, mash pedal on green, and steer straight. Not much to screw up even if your only experience is getting on a freeway ramp.

Facts are: The Vette weighs in a few hundred pounds less and has probably more stock HP than the modified 318. I'd love to see the Charger win, but I'm going with the odds.

I was thinking it could be largely decided right at the lights with starting line experience and reaction time being bigger factors than the cars themselves in this case. :shruggy:

RallyeMike

Not too worried unless the guy is on valium. I think the Vette will be more than 1 sec faster.

93 is it a Lt1 in the vette of still a tune port injection. I can say i was the most let down when i first floored my gta trans am with a 350TPI. Wow that thing was a dog.

Whoever has slicks on will win. Makes a long day at the track WITHOUT slicks.

Had a 93 vette - never ran it through the 1/4, but ran a best of 9.05 in the 1/8th in decent conditions - think you are looking at a BEST case for the vette at around 14.20 to 14.30 in the 1/4 - will be anxious to see what the Charger runs - Just for the record, don't wait til green or you are already late (unless it is a .400 pro tree), take off on 3rd yellow - but you may very well have way more track experience than me, and if so you already know that :) - most importantly - have fun and be safe!

Scaregrabber

Yeah: I don't see a good outcome for the Charger here. Hopefully I'm wrong. That Charger was a 19 second car dead stock.

we have already played around on a empty high so im hoping to see good performance from my charger even with a 318.  im hoping i have enough gearwith first and second gear to get eh job done

charger_fan_4ever

Worst case if you don't have slicks bolt on some M/T et Streets. They have a couple groves to make you think it might be tread, but its nothing more than a line to measure wear. Same compound as the ET drags. A 26 X 8 or 9 is plenty traction for a heavy car thats 300hp or less. On an auto it should just about dead hook.

would love to see the  Charger wining  , but think  the corvette  will take it   :icon_smile_blackeye:
think the plan is like what the other guys say , try to do the vette off the line , any chance you can borrow a 3.55 or 3.91 centre section & sicks :scratchchin:
