This '68 Charger has been sitting down the street from me for atleast 10 years. I've wanted it since I first saw it. Long story short, I have a chance to finally obtain it. What do you guys figure it's worth? Don't need percision values by any means, just rough guesses and opinions. I only got 3 small pictures for now, I apologize but it's better than nothing? :shruggy:  Here's what I know....

1968 Dodge Charger
-originally a 318 car but now has a locked up 383
-originally red w/ black interior
-Complete car
-Power windows
-Column shift auto
-Somebody bondoed in a '69 taillight panel at one point
-Rear frame rails seem good
-Because it's been sitting in the same spot for 10 years, one can only assume it needs floor pans, outer wheelhouses and trunk pan
-Lower quarters need to be done for sure
-Rocker panels are a little rough but in fairly good shape
-Fenders are in good shape
-Good grille

I plan on going to re-discuss it tomorrow and hopefully fully check out the car again and report back with good descriptive pictures!! :2thumbs: I haven't fully seen the car in almost 7 years. These pictures were taken back in Feburary...

Off of the description and those 2 pics.. I am with you.

:soapbox:
I am all for saving another one but you need to be looking for a parts 69 charger or spending money on the one you got and get it running before you go and buy another project.  :Twocents:

It's orange so it's worth a lot!   :icon_smile_big:

Let me ask you this, you've wanted it for 10 years so how much is it worth to YOU?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Hmmm... a '68 eh?  So would you be adding that to your stable Cody or would you be "upgrading" your '69?        :stirthepot:       ;D

And to avoid any backlash from the '69 possy... I'm only poking fun!   '69s come a very close second right after '68s on my cool list!    :2thumbs:    I'd have had a '69 if a decent deal presented itself before my '68 came along.    :yesnod:

Value is in the eye of the beholder my friend.... offer an amount you're comfortable with...   :yesnod:

charger_fan_4ever

Since its in Canada it will be more expensive. That being said $4-5k tops, but i wouldn't pay more than $3k.

aceofbones

Having a 68 and a 69 would be sweet but it's expensive enough just to make one decent charger. Invest the money in the 69.

TruckDriver

No offence Cody, But you need to fix up the cars you have already. The way I think you are going, your going to end up being the guys that says "I'm going to fix them up one day", but never does it. Just keeps collecting. I personally think you would be driving your '69 a long time ago already if you would stop buying all these cars. You need to remember, you can not save them all even if you want to.

Sell your 69 and buy the 68 :D

If you pass on it, and want to move it on, my brother wants one, but he can't have either one of mine :)

Isn't that the truth.

Sold off my last mustang over the winter to get the charger finally done.

TruckDriver

I hope I dont offend him. Cody is a good guy and I like him, and respect him. He has come a long way here on this forum. But we all need to sit back, and be realistic sometimes about what we are getting into. Most of us have been over our heads at on time or another here. Specially me. I just wish I had his ambition yet  :P

How'd it look Cody?

Much better than I thought. I'm guessing about $4500-$5000 would be fair. My dad is probably picking this one up.

Good for him. I think (at least in Canada) $5000 is fair. At least $4000 is fair in sunnier climes, so you're doing okay.

So which Charger is getting restored first? Hmm.....

You have to ask...   ;)

That's cool if your old man buys it.  Remind him to start out low, not insultingly low, but maybe take $5k in cash & offer $3750.-- & work his way up.

Don't forget the refrigerator magnet.  Wherever it doesn't stick the seller needs to be aware of.  It may have more bondo in it than the seller realizes.

Start low...stay low....then walk away. It looks like a VERY expensive project (or parts car).

I tend to agree with this from experience. I would pass it up unless you can get it cheap to use as parts to fix up your 69. Good luck either way.

HAHAHA i said exactly that to him on facebook the other day so true hes gonna be this hobbys enemy LOL

charger_fan_4ever

I can't imagine 2 rusty hulks needing full restos/interiors. My 70 R/t started out as a $5k project. As it sits parts/material and labour I have put another 17k in it and we are not in primer yet and thats with a real good deal on labour. Mind you some of the cost was buying missing parts/ most of the new interior. No motor yet though....

Restoring one takes years and loads of cash. I'd be depressed if i had 5 project cars that have potential but none turn key.

I had a 89 gt with a carbed 351W HCI tremec yada yada drove it on the street and it ran deep 11's at close to 120mph. Was fun and a clean southern car but boy did i take a beating when i sold it. I got 1/2 back. Had an LX notchback too pretty stock. Was a fun car to drive but definitely not a charger. Sold the last notch to finally get my 70 finished and on the road.

I kept saying i'll just keep them all and put some cash a side to do the charger. I then decided i wanted to have it on the road before i'm 40 lol.
