Anyone have experience with these heads?  Are they worth the add'l cost?  What intake would you use with them?  ...for street use and stock hood.

The CNC heads that Mancini sells are done by Jeff at MCH (modern cylinder head) and flow extremely well. If it's in the budget i would definately recommend them.  :2thumbs:

A nice intake to match to those heads is the Holley "street dominator" which is a low rise single plane that will clear the stock hood with a drop base air cleaner assembly.  :yesnod:

I think I'm going to take the plunge on these heads.  So you prefer the Holly Dominator over the Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold?  Just want to make sure before the making the investment.  Thanks much.

The Street Dominator and Performer RPM are very close in performance ; the RPM makes a little more torque down low while the SD makes slightly better HP up top. I like the SD because it is lower/shorter so there are less hood clearance issues to contend with.

What headers are on this car ? The RPM heads have angled plugs and don't fit well will all header brands.

1 7/8" Hooker Super Comp Headers...will they work?

I have 1 7/8 Hooker Super Comp headers.  One other question...my current cast iron heads are 90cc and the ported mancini edelbrock are 81cc...with 10.75CR now won't the ported heads raise my compression?

The Hooker 1 7/8 Supercomps are definately a problem with angled plug heads  :P You would have to clearance several of the primary tubes for sparkplug access. The E-heads are not a good match for those headers.

There is another option however so don't despair  ;) Mopar Performance came out with an aluminum 452 head casting which is identical to the 84cc closed chamber RPM casting. These heads have straight plugs as opposed to angled plugs so they will work with any/all brands of headers as well as factory ex manifolds. These are made for MP by Edelbrock and are a little more expensive than the RPM's but you save a lot of hassle and expense by not having to replace an existing set of good headers.

If I had a nice exhaust system that was compatible with the build I'd be hesitant to modify it to accomodate a specific head casting when there is something else available that will bolt right in. A set of TTI headers are $850 and you would have to do some work to the headpipes because the collectors are not in the same place as the Hookers....so it's welding and cutting time.  :P

Most Pistons are advertised at a higher than actual compression ratio. The 10.75 figure is not accurate unless those pistons have a big dome on them and even then the block would have had to been decked .050 to get them close to zero deck. The 2295 pistons are the pop-ups and the 2355's are the flat tops with valve reliefs. Even those 2355's at zero deck withan 84cc chamber will only net 10.5:1 static compression.

With a 90cc chamber i'll bet you measeured compression is closer to 9:1 than 10.75  :yesnod:

The best way to determine what you'll have is to pull a head and measure the piston to deck clearance....then we can calculate  ;)

You wouldn't have a PN for those pistons by chance ?

No PN just told they are forged TRW 10.75:1.  My exhaust is staying so I guess ported 452 Mopar heads huh?  Are Indy heads angled plug too?

I can pretty much guarantee you don't have 10.75:1 with a 90cc chamber....no matter what pistons are in there.

With the Hooker headers you are limited to a straight plug. The Indy heads have angled plugs as well...

Mancini has the aluminum MP 452's.....same as the edelbrocks but with straight plugs.  :yesnod: About $300 more than the RPM's but no exhaust/header hassles  :2thumbs:

If it were me i'd buy these and have them drop shipped to Dwayne @ Porter Racing heads for a stage 1 "port and prep" then install them. Dwayne knows these heads very well and has done hundreds of sets over the years. He'll correct the valvejob, set the guide clearance and clean up the ports for some xtra CFM. Well worth the effort  :2thumbs: With a cam like yours you don't need the BIG (flow) number....just a little more low/mid lift flow will perk up the power where you need it most  ;)

I spoke with Dwayne @ Porter Racing and he confirmed the stage 1 is the way to go with the MP 452's.  Looks like that's the way I will go.  Can a novice with tools and a garage switch heads or is it a job for a pro?  What all is involved other than carb/intake/head removal and replacement?  Thanks for the help.

Performing a head swap is not difficult at all. You need to have all the surfaces clean when reassembling the engine and torque the heads in the proper sequence. You will need to purchase or borrow a torque wrench and have access to a socket set and wrenches. The BB mopar is very easy to work on.  :2thumbs:

I'm sure we can walk you through the whole process.  :yesnod:

Dwayne will fix you right up !   :icon_smile_big:

Here's some pics of a set he did for another member :
