USA Made Quarter Panels 69 Charger

I was curious if anyone here has purchased or used the quarters that I have seen in the Paddock catalog and website. They are american made and don't have the marker light cutouts in them. They make them sound much better in quality than the overseas panels I bought awhile back. If there were better alternatives than these Taiwan quarter panels, then I would rather use them. Maybe someday they will finally make the nice factory style panels like the Challenger.

There is a guy locally with a '68 Charger that I believe has these on it (they have no markers or recesses for them). They look okay, but the body line is very sharp.Way sharper than the original panels.

Are we talking about full OEM style quarters or what? Goodmark already makes the quarter that nearly everyone uses. I doubt they will be stamping any full quarters any time soon. I have not seen what Paddock is selling recently so I will check out the website.

Yeah, Goodmark sells the standard quarters we see everywhere. They are imported. I had two sets dropped shipped direct from Goodmark over the past few months.

I checked out The Paddock's site and the quarters look to be the same as what is already offered. Perhaps the quality is better but, it is still not a full OEM quarter. If the bodyline is better that would be a great improvement at least.

I realize these aren't full factory style quarters, but they are U.S. made and I was hoping that maybe the fit, body lines and metal gauge and quality were better than what has been available until now. It's funny they are actually cheaper than the foreign panels. I was wondering though who might have actually installed them and could speak to their overall quality and fit. I read the article on Mopar Muscles website where they installed quarters and they kept the original marker light cut outs and rear of the panel because the panels are basically stamped incorrectly. I had planned on doing this, so the fact that they have no cut outs on these U.S. made panels isn't a problem.

I believe one of U.S. made ones are made by a company in ohio called tabco, I've heard most of the places that deal the body panels get them from the same source and are just dealers for a few of manufactures.

I may be wrong but I don't think any repop sheet metal is made in the US. At least that's what I've been told.

I know the lower quarter patch panels Layson's sells are made in the USA somewhere.

Paddock is doing OEM style 1/4's made in USA, but they are 20 inches shorter lengthwise than the Taiwanese ones!? I'm interested to find out if anyone here has fitted them ok and where the 20 inches is lost

That is not an OEM style Quarter. The OEM units have the shelf and extend up a bit on the sail panel. The one Goodmark makes is the usual aftermarket style replacement skin.

Hey Jim, I know they are not full factory size, but I don't know where the size difference lies comparing the taiwanese ones to the US ones. One set is 68 inches long, the other 88.

I think we're still just stuck with the Goodmark Taiwanese quarter skins.  (The black electroplated ones that are called "full" but they actually stop halfway across the gas filler door hole.)  They're the best option.  And IMHO, they're the only option worth spending money on if you need any more than a lower rear patch section.

The better "full" quarters that GM & Ford & the Mopar E-bodies are getting will eventually happen for Chargers, but I think it's still years away.  Goodmark makes everything, it's just re-sold under other names.  Their plan is to make stuff for E-bodies, then '68/69 Roadrunners, and then if all that stuff sells okay they'll do '68/69 Charger stuff.

I just got off the phone with Paddock. They had a typo  on their website, their charger quarters are actually 87 inches long, not 68, and 33 inches tall not 30. If anyone can tell me otherwise, these ones are probably the best then, basically same size, 20 gauge steel, made in USA and supposed to be the correct contour. Price is less too

Hi,
I am new to the site.  I took a look at the quarters available from Tabco (www.tabcobodyparts.com).  If you look at the picture of the panel it does show the cutout for the side marker light, unlike the goodmark panels or the paddock panels.  Not sure if Tabco makes the paddock panels or not.   The website also says that the parts are made in the US. 

JimShine - looking at the pictures you posted.  Are those remanufactured quarters or were they taken off of a car?  Where did you get them from?

I was looking at the Tabco stuff yesterday, it looks good but the descriptions are a bit vague. It could well be the stuff Paddock sells, but their prices are a bit dearer. I won't buy from Tabco unless I have heard from someone that their panels are good and fit well.

Have you installed it.....if so, did fit alright without too much massaging? Any idea what grade of steel it is?

I'm getting an outer wheel housing too. That whole area had been worked on before by a previous owner and was pretty ugly-will post some pics soon for y'all to laugh at

The ones on the Tabco 'site look no different than the "full" repro 1/4 skins that everyone else carries (Goodmark, etc). I remember seeing years ago the generic ones with no marker light openings at swap meets. I thought they looked terrible.

I got mine at a swap meet from Auto Body Specialties. They are the same ones Goodmark, Year One, Paddock, Jack's, Layson's, etc is selling. Granted, it's not an OEM NOS 1/4 panel, but I actually got it to fit really nicely on my '69 with just a little massaging. Car looks great, & it was my first 1/4 skin I've ever done. I'll have some paint on it soon, hopefully before the year is up.

There have been gobs of posts on this 'site, and info in magazines, about installing these repro 1/4 skins. A simple search should yield you some good reading material.

I put the skins Goodmark sells on my 69.  Suprisingly they fit OK, the right side was actually better than the left.  The corner piece on the right fits pretty good against them, but the left one is being a major PITA.  I had to cut off the elftover on the left quarter and reweld it, now it's all f'd up and I have more work to do to fix it.  I have pics of it before and after I welded them on if anyone would like to see.

This is a factory original Dodge Charger quarter skin from the 1960s.  (N.O.S.)
If you want repros of this, tough sh*t. 

Call Goodmark and complain, because they're still gonna tool parts for lots of other cars first.

It will just be a matter of time before the full factory size quarters are done, until then, the repro ones will do fine

One Ive got is best quality repro 1/4 available, (has marker hole too) with good body work skills I wont have much hard time installing it
