I was just wondering if anyone could help me out. i'm putting an MSD 6AL Box and an MSD distributor in my 1974 440 Charger. i know how to put the box and the distributor in but was wondering what you do with the ballist resistor and the ecu box. do you just unplug the wires and forget about them or do you have to do something with them. thanks Brian

Unplugged and forgotten in mine.

myk

On my MSD 6 with the Mopar electronic ignition kit I think the wires were cut and joined together, or something like that; it's been awhile since I did that particular 'mod.  After all, the ballast isn't required when running the MSD & electronic ignition...

Do you have the 6AL and a mechanical distributor, or one of the new electronic distributors? I may have pics of the electronic and 6AL. I think it's the same as the mechanical, but hate to provide you the wrong info...
Indianapolis '69 Charger. RestoMod.

With the MSD you need to toss the ballast and the Mopar ECU, then tie the wires on both sides of the ballast together and connect the SMALL red MSD wire to them. Large red MSD wire goes to the battery.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
