Strippers?

No guys not what you are thinking!  (Look at the topic category!)
I've found I can remove the re-paint on the sides of my car with a single edge razor. I've even got most of the old primer and factory blue off the front fender leaving just the iron oxide factory primer. The door and rear quarter panel are mostly stuck on tight and won't strip that way.
My question is should/could I use chemical stripper for larger areas on the sides or just stick to grinding the crap out of it? It's all getting epoxy primed. (I just happen to have a gallon of stripper handy.)

I don't like chemical strippers, I have seen problems with adhesion if not thouroghly cleaned, Sand it off or have it media blasted.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Thanks for your  :Twocents:! The blasters around here charge way to much! They wanted 300.00 just for my hood and that was me bringing it to them!  :eek2:

You should be able to find someone to do it cheaper. I have a guy that soda blasts whole cars for $1500.00, I know it sounds like a bunch of money but when it comes down to buying that stripper is expensive and good 3M sandpaper is nearly $50.00 for the DA "big roll" (as I call it! can't remember how many pads are on one!) plus time involved.

Methylene chloride strippers will get any paint off quickly, they get a bad rep sometimes because they use a wax that skins over to keep the meth going after the paint. When you clean the stripper off some of this wax can remain causing adhesion issues and fish eyes. When I use these type of strippers on either wood or metal I clean a second time with MEK to remove the wax.

Thanks guys, I hear ya on the time/cost for sandpaper. The roof and rear sweeps are ready I have them coated in "Eastwood Encapsulator" just for protection till I sand that off and epoxy them. I was thinking of just stripping large areas left but staying away from edges, seams and corners. I have a small backpack sandblaster for trouble spots also. I sure don't want adhesion issues under the epoxy! MEK is nasty stuff! It's all getting wiped with pre-prep prior to spray....maybe MEK, then lacquer thinner, then pre-prep!  :scratchchin:
