is it used in a Thompson  centre  ? if so how about 30 herrett or 7 /30 waters     that's just guessing though as we haven't been able to collect cartridges or have guns in general since 1996

Nope, it's a 7.62 X 38R used in the Russian 1895 Nagant Revolver. What's unique about this pistol is the cylinder, it moves forward when cocked and seals the cylinder to the barrel. (doesn't spit lead out the side when fired)
