A question about length

This may be a silly question to some but it could really help me out.

I wanted to see if I can fit my charger in my garage as appose to some lock up. Because shes a non runner I thought i dd do the intelgent thing first and measure my garage, The numbers ive got are really really close. She will definitely go in, but my only concern is the garage door want shut. And I think its a matter of just a few inches.

So here is what I would like to know, Ive seen some restoration pics with the cars front end (grill and fenders removed) up untill the radiator support?.

As my cars needing a restoration, If I remove the front grill and front 2 fenders this should make the car shorter in length, But does anyone know roughly by how much?

And also are the grill and front 2 fenders and whatever else that needs to be removed an easy enough job to do?

I hope you guys understand what im trying to say

And yes I should of measured it before I bought the car, but no one cares at that time you just think, oh it will fit)

Thank you for your time.

considering that the bumper is only 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick then you have the bumper brackets to deal with your probably looking at removing alot more than just the bumpers but i have a 1st gen and they are extra long...........

My 68 Chargers are 17' 6" long when assembled but they're just over 16' without the bumpers, brackets, and front fenders (basically from the radiator support to the tail panel).

I'd modify the garage door.

I've done this before.

I removed the old fiberglass door that had 4" thick braces on it and replaced it with a modern insulated steel door that is less than 2" thick.

I also moved the new door outward in the jamb.

The old door was spaced inward with a single 2 x 4 on the top and sides, so combined, I gained close to 3 1/2" of depth with these modifications.

Just enough to get a quad cab 4X4 truck with an eight foot bed into a garage that was never meant to hold it.

Oh yea, all sorts of extra room without the grill and fenders. And no worries about scratching them up while leaning over them to work in the engine bay. You can get right up there close to the action.
