It seems my fuel tank supply line nipple is 3/8 but the fuel line is 5/16. If I use 5/16 hose it will not go on the tank fitting and if I use 3/8 it is to loose on the fuel line. What is the proper size hose ?

That's the correct (i.e. factory-correct) configuration, strange as it may seem.  I've used 5/16" rubber fuel line before and just slowly worked it onto the sending unit's 3/8" stub.  It ain't easy...

If you're restoring the car, a swap to 3/8" fuel line up to the fuel pump is a pretty common and fairly inexpensive change to make.  The return lines are 1/4" regardless.

Thanks Geno , but does any one know what the factory used ?

I forgot to mention that the 5/16 fuel line does have a "bubble" formed on the end of it so I am thinking that 3/8 hose is correct.

Both of my RT's had 5/16 fuel lines from the tank.   I know Sinnamon has 3/8 fuel sender because it's in the basement.   I don't recall exactly what Black Bettys' was cause it went into a dumpster several years ago.

I put stainless 3/8 fuel, 1/4 return into Black Betty and will do the same for Sinnamon.

is a return line required? I am going to a 3/8" fuel line also.

I run a 3/8 fuel line on my 472 hemi without a return line and have no problems whatsoever  :2thumbs:

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

When installed properly,  a return line helps with fuel percolation so you don't sit there like a jackass cranking the crap out of the car to get it started after shutting it down when it's hot.

If you got no problems,  great.
