Locking Gun display rack options--ended up making it (pics)

As some of you know , my father passed away a couple weeks ago.  He left me a very old double barrel shot gun and a rifle that has been passed down from his families.  He used to have them sitting on the fireplace mantle on a couple of posts.  I want to display them on the wall too but want a nice looking mount that will be lockable.  At least if someone breaks in and tries to steal them I want to make it hard.  The shot gun been shot so much its ends are worn thin but it wont matter to a crook.  I've only been able to find the standard wood racks and a couple horse shoe styles that neither one one look very secure with their locking styles.  Any of you gun collectors have a source for nice display lockable racks or cases.  If needed I can fab a couple out of metal but would like to see whats available or recommended.  Thanks

i dont think you will be able to find a mount that will stop a determined thief. here the law is that all guns must be kept in steel cabinets that are bolted to the floor or wall but still a lot of guns are stolen every day..

I don't think any locks are going to stop most determined thieves including the door locks.  Windows are easy enough to break.  I just don't necessarily want to make it easy for for them time wise to run in and out with them along with other things.  The shotgun may be even risky to attempt to shoot.  I'll run by the local gun shop today to see what they know of.

The only thing Ive ever seen similar to what your describing was a custom job. I've never seen one commercially available.

I have never seen a lockable wall mounted gun rack.  You may find a wood-worker in your area which could build you something.  I would not think it would be to difficult.

My condolences on the loss of your Dad. I don't know where you're located but I'm in NorCal, retired and make all manner of custom wood thingys. If this neck 'o the woods is close to you, I can make you any type of cabinet you'd like. PM me if you'd like. Keep in mind though that a determined crook will get the goods despite any security precautions. Good luck.

here in new york state you must keep guns locked in a gun safe if you have small children  in your house.

I used to work in the gun industry for many years. There is nothing you can buy. When wall mounting was popular, security was a non issue. When security became a concern, wall mounting fell from favour. Go to a hardware store and find some U shaped brackets that can be screwed in the wall studs or find a blacksmith who can make something. Don't give up. It's worth displaying your family heirlooms.

I reckon if I can fab up some of the things I've done for my car, the wall mounts should not be too much problem.  Sounds like my next project.    Thanks though for the offers and thoughts  .

Well nothing out there to buy so I made these out of aluminum and steel.  Wall mount bolts obscured by the guns and pins locking in u-bolts needing special tool to get them out.  Mounts are bolted with concrete bolts and 2" length of threads in the cement.  There is foam padding between gun and mount pieces. Serves my purpose anyway  Added a couple of solid brass candle stick holders I made many years ago and a clock I had bought them a long time back to finish it off
