Our resident Charger flipper.

He must be a horrible flipper as that seems like a really cheap Charger.  Usually flippers mark UP the price.

1974dodgecharger

ok he saids 'no tire kickers', but how can you be a tire kicker if the engine does not run? am I missing something?

Anyone in that area willing to check'er out for me?  I will also pay to have it 'dropped' off on the Canadian side of the border.

The no title thing sucks otherwise I would buy that in a heartbeat.

I gave it a once-over yesterday while looking for some bucket seat bolts. The trunk, floors, lower quarters and part of the rockers are gone (among other things no doubt) but some of the interior parts are decent. He said someone had already struck a deal with him for the drivers fender and you can see in the latest ad that it says "parting" rather than for sale. Had you known about it you could have brought it home from where he bought it in Seattle rather than Portland where it is now. He also told me he paid $2k for it.

I think everyones time is worth something, plus he did  man up and put down the money for it in the first place.  To turn around and 'flip' it, I have no problems with as long as the ad/man is honest.

I would easily buy that car for $2900, except no title means I can't bring it home.  It's ALOT better than having it rot/rust somewhere and the PO says, 'I'll fix it ONE DAY!'

These 'flippers' are like your local 7 Eleven, they help facilitate easy sales.

Do you say that so you feel better about yourself?  I have zero issues with flippers', but there's a good percentage here who do.

What's so hard getting a title for a 42 year old car ?

FastbackJon

I don't like the flipper-parter that find a good solid project for $2,000 and decides that he can make double that if he just parts the whole thing out.

I sort of know this guy having dealt with him on maybe five occasions. I bought a bumper jack from him for a good price, he came to my house and bought a set of Vectors from me, and I've been to his house to look for parts and inspect a few cars for people, etc. As far as flippers go he's one of the better ones I've dealt with. For the most part his prices are not insanely high, he's not a fast-talker and he seems to be pretty honest. I don't necessarily like him or dislike him and as said, the one good thing about flippers is that they get the cars and parts back into circulation rather than left to rot in hillbilly hell. To those of us who buy one or two cars and then spend thousands restoring it, his way of thinking is foreign but you have to admit there is some good in it.

When I was looking for my car I found a seriously neglected 69 that I helped "rescue" by finding a buyer but I didn't have the cash to flip it. Maybe that's the more ethical approach to this quandary but I probably would have taken $300-$500 for my trouble, because it was a major pain in the butt. The owner didn't want to let it go but I knew if I didn't push her a little the car would have sat there rotting indefinitely.

I think I should perhaps modify my post.

It's prolly cause I've only seen the good side of flipping.  I have a good friend who has created a side business doing just that & I can guarantee he's lost just as much as he's made $$.  For whatever reason his wife & him can't have kids so the whole process is truly a hobby for him.  I completely understand the negative aspect.

Best part about it is as I drift more towards modifying/ personalizing my rides & he returns them back to factory stock I usually get good prices on the stuff he takes off.  Right now I'm into him pretty good.

Remember back when original Hemi E bodies were bringing insane money @ BJ?  He's one of the folks who cashed in.

Hmmmm. I always thought they were helping to sell junk to lazy ass people who refuse to look for themselves to find a car,(Usually at huge mark-ups without doing anything to make it worth the extra).that once one has bought it, one tends to get online and b*tch to anybody and everybody who will listen how they got anally raped...My bad.

Well, 7 Eleven sells junk (mostly sugary stuff) to lazy people who won't bother to look for anything better.  Check.
The stuff is hugely marked up (ie milk).  Check.

But I don't see anyone getting online to bitch about sevs.  :)

You forgot the most important part of someone getting online to bitch,   check    ;)

I'd like to bitch about the super spicy Thai-rice plate I bought for dinner.  They said it would be spicy but I didn't think I'd be spending the rest of the evening on the porcelain throne.

Anyway, we "love" these cars and cars in general but to many they're just things to be used at our own discretion.  I know of a guy on LS1tech.com that had a beautiful, and I mean BEAUTIFUL low mileage '02 WS6 that was flawless but he parted it out because he knew he could reap a fortune in parts revenue; the drive train itself was worth about 2/3 of the value of the car.  To me and everyone else on the board he was a nut job, but then again that didn't keep me or anyone else of his critics from buying up his factory quality parts either, and at the end of the day to this guy it was just a way to make money and you can't fault a person for trying to earn a living...

im sure he lost money if he upgraded his vehicle also for those parts to part it out. I had a supercharged toyota vehicle I parted everything I could on the vehicle except the vehicle how it came parted as in sound system that cost me 5k, rims 2, tonneau cover 1500, etc...I took out things that I upgraded and got some of my money back vs selling the vehicle with upgrades that made it worth nothing.

Sorry to hear abut your thai food man though I do love PHO soup oh boy I can add as much sariche  souce to it to make my butt burn when it comes out hahaha...
