Drive shaft length

So once again an update on the 72 4 speed conversion. Im pretty sure the trans i have is a A833 overdrive one. If i've read right they have a 26 spline output shaft?. When i got my autotrans out of the car and set it beside the A833 the auto trans was a bit longer. Also my drive shaft yoke wouldn't slip onto the 4 speed output shaft. So with that said can i get away with just buying the right yoke for my drive shaft ? the 4 speed was prob just a few inches shorter than the auto. And thats lining up the transmission mounts side by side. Im hoping i can get the right yoke and be done with that dilemma. Any advice or thoughts would be much appreciated! thanks to everyone to has helped me out so far!
