Hang in there she will stop reminding you about it in about 20 years :nana:  Wait it's only a matter of time, the closer it gets to getting done the more you will here "ho much do you think WE can get out of it?"  Then, "when are you going to sell that car?" Remember that look she gave you.  Every time you tell her you can't afford something that look will re appear   Love to see some pics of the car and hemi.

You will get more enjoyment out of the Charger than you will the hot tub in the course of your lifetime...   :Twocents:

...depends what he fills the hot tub with  :icon_smile_big:

Of course, if you keep your girl and still need to get her a hot tub, maybe this will work...

I'd take a non-running Charger in the driveway over a hot tub.

Did anyone reproduce those bumper stickers from vanishing point?

As long as your car hobby doesn't infringe on the finances of the entire family, then it shouldn't be a big deal. She may never understand the concept of a project car, & even when it's done might complain about it. There are a lot of people that see an old car as something that needs to be replaced because, well......it's old.  ::)

Now if your kid needs clothing, food, or you've slip behind on the mortgage & she complained about what you spent, then I'm on her side & you're simply an idiot.

That story reminds me of the one on the jeep forum where the girlfriend got on his board talking about how expensive it was for her boyfriend to be spending all HIS money on this old jeep, and the great response she got from one of the forum members... I have a screen capture of his response, I'll have to try and find it.

I lost my first 2 Charger's, both 4spd cars cause of my now ex-wife. I will never do that again. One of the first questions I ask now is "are you ok with me having old cars as a hobby?". If they dont like it, I move on.

A lot of wives including mine become much more accepting over many years. Pay the bills and be good to her and it will work out....maybe.
My 1969 Charger. RIP......Rest in pieces.

My car money is separate from family money so she doesn't care.  She knows if I she bad mouths it or gives it any negative vibes that it will 'hurt' me.  Why would she do that?

What possible gain would my wife have in inflicting any pain or negativity in my life.  The rest of the world can do that just fine, don't need that in my house :)

Yes, I have a GOOD one (the wife that is, the cars come and go).

Don't lump all women in that statement. Some of us women bleed Mopar blue.

:smilielol: I remember the first time my FIRST WIFE saw a 74 Duster I bought and she said "what a piece of crap" She changed her tune pretty quick after it was sitting there all nice and buffed out in Hemi-orange!!!

In one ear, out the other is how I handle any sort of judgement, especially when it comes from a woman.  You should try it, especially when women will blow trillions on shoes, makeup, underwear and handbags all day long; certainly more than enough money to rebuild 10 Heeeee-mi Chargers...
