I imagine how fun it would be to rent one of these sleepers and then scare the piss out of my wife the first good chance I had to stomp on the throttle. I hear they really go. Anybody here own or at least driven one? How do you like it?

From Wikipedia: On April 20, 2011, Jeep announced that the SRT8 version will be debuted at the 2011 New York Auto Show. According to Chrysler, it's the most powerful Jeep ever built. 0-60 and quarter mile times have not been measured yet, but are expected to be on par with the previous generation SRT8.

The new Cherokee SRT-8, starts production on July 16, 2011, will be equipped with a 465 hp (347 kW; 471 PS) 6.4 L Hemi V8 engine. Jeep claims the new SRT8 gets 13-percent better fuel economy than its predecessor. To keep the gas mileage respectable, Jeep has employed a new active exhaust system that lets Chrysler's cylinder-deactivating Fuel Saver Technology operate over a wider rpm band. Chrysler claims that with the larger gas tank, the SUV can now travel up to 500 miles (800 km) on a single tank, while other sources estimate range to be 450 miles (720 km).

My old 3/4 ton Suburban can do 500 miles easy, but it has a 42 gallon fuel tank...

Can it do 0-60 in 4.8 seconds or the 1/4 mile in the mid-13s? :nana:

LOL, Funny boy.   :smilielol:  It would probably do 0-60 in 6 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 15 to 17 seconds..  :icon_smile_blackeye:   But then again I've never timed it because I really don't run my vehicles like that... Very often  :misbehaving:

I almost got Pops to buy one as his daily driver {he's a tight a$$}, $45K+ a 2012 SRT 425hp 6.1ltr. Hemi, very nice inside, very comfortable, Leather in the one we tested, easy to park, good visability, plenty of room to haul stuff, I think it had a 6300lb tow capacity, they aren't heavy enough for much more than that anway, they have greaty brakes, great 4x4 selectable on the fly traction system, fast as hell, fun as hell to drive & got 20+mpg in the mountains, even with my lead foot at the wheel, we had one for a long 3 day week end, went all over the place in the snow, up to Lake Tahoe & up here in the mountains around Sonora were I live... I didn't like the black paint, but they have some other great colors to choose from... I would say, buy if you got the cash...

I thought it was funny when a friend handed me his keys (wifes car actually, he has something faster) on an older model about two yrs ago indicating go hammer and try it out as he is trying to talk me into one (what friends do).   So his verbage was go hammer on it, just make sure you are pointing where you want to go.  I thought that was funny, but seemed reasonably true I found with limited drift and went where I pointed (dry pavement)........... :icon_smile_big: :drool5: :drive:

I think I like the look of these new ones over the last two styles, dig the hood & need new car maybe :scratchchin:

Just drove an 06 and 07 last weekend.  I wasn't very impressed with either one of them.  I like my 300 SRT-8 a lot more.  They did have a used 2012 with 10K on the clock but I didn't drive that one.  They want $60K for it.  With all 3 of them sitting side by side, the 2012 does look way better.

I did the SRT driving experience here a couple yrs ago in TX and hammered accordingly, that was way fun, I can't complain about much on any of the SRT8s honestly, couple very insignificant styling cues and maybe I want one ....... in white.  Continue to flirt with the idea  of buying a used 08magwag over a new Challenger or Jeep.  Never came around on the new Chargers or 300, some internal baggage  :RantExplode:with the four doors apparently, if I have four doors might as well be a wagon :shruggy:  :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

Given your experience with many different powerhouse vehicles, how much "pucker" did you experience when stepping on the throttle?

NYCMille

Honestly, not that much. Don't get me wrong, it's fast, but keep in mind that the Jeep SRT8 is around 4,800 lbs. so it's no lightweight and it needs every one of those 475 ponies to move it. However, what's amazing is how well it's able to throw all those pounds around. I reeled in a guy in Mitsubishi EVO MR and he was, to say the least, not happy about it. Especially since he watched my taillights as they disappeared down the corkscrew.

Think of it as a really, really fast barn door with good brakes.  :2thumbs:

The new Mustang GT 5.0 though, with the Brembo's and track pack... now THAT was an impressive car!
