My local paper reprints a cover page from newspapers printed "back in the day" from the 30's through the 80's etc every day.

Well yesterday there was this little pic about a car crash dates August 4th, 1970

I spy something on the top of the overpass with some front end damage  :scope:

Sorry for the small grainy pic...can u make it out?

At first glance it looks like a Dart?

BBD

Ghoste

Rallye wheels, is it a 70 model?

Indygenerallee

That's too big to be a Dart it's a 2nd gen Charger.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

I dont see rallys....I do see whitewall tires...possibly hubcaps?  Looks to be an R/T stripe on there as well :scope:

Wonder if thats the hood laying on the street below...

In your original are you able to make out if there is an RT cutout in the stripe?  I can see there is a stripe but as you said, not a lot of clarity in what I get to see on my end.

PocketThunder

Looks like a 69 from the side marker lights in the quarter panel....   :scope:

Whats laying on the sidewalk below the bridge above the arrow?..??   I hope its not the driver.   :scared:

Definitely can't see the markers on this screen.  I do see the thing you mean above the arrow though.

Cant really tell....I would have to say its either a 68 or 69.

8/4/69 would be real early for the '70 model year....would have to be right off the lot!   Cant make out any big chrome bumper in the mangled front end.

What ever it was definitely hit that guard rail hard to knock it off the overpass

Looks like plain old Staten Island trash IMHO :rotz:

looks as though someone is running toward the item laying under the bridge with maybe liquid draining from it into the street.

also if you look at the charger hood laying in the street below, it doesnt seem to have the black outs next to the hood mounted turn signals that all 69's have. or am i squinting too much? :scope:

I'll vote that it's a Charger, but not 100% sure.  :shruggy:

If you look into the car at the rear window, it appears to have a sail panel, but hard to say.   :Twocents:

Look like scenes from "I Am Legend" or some other apocolypse film.

Yeah I was thinking "Walking Dead" when I saw the Camaro shot!

It looks like an early 69 Charger to me:
The sidelight is too low to be a 68 and the door buttons look black.
So IMHO an early 69

Ghoste

Wow, you guys are pulling out a lot more detail than I'm getting.  I've been looking at it from a laptop all day, I might have to move over to something with a proper monitor.

Dans 68

Looks like headrests also, with a bit of shiny vertical metal in front of what looks to be a radically forward leaning radiator/support panel. The hood on the street below is being supported by one of the hinges. I say a '69 R/T.  :scratchchin:

It doesn't matter what we think. Until Galen gets a look at that pic and makes a determination it could be the lunar lander for all we know.

Why doesn't the op just call up the newspaper and ask for a copy of the original photograph? Might be able to solve our questions a lot easier  :P
