Saw a bunch of local Mopar guys I know at tonights local cruise and everyone seemed to agree on trying to park along the ravine as you suggested so that is kind of the plan. The Moparfest staff will try to force us to park in the next available row so we may have to follow their instructions but then just keep driving and make a wide turn to circle back to that area.

Yep, that is exactly what we've done.  And getting there a little after 8, shouldn't be many in that location yet at all!

I'm late to this thread, but here's something to remember for next year:

Register as a club and they guide everyone on to the ball diamond where you can park together.
That's where you see a crowd of the newer cars because they registered as a club.

For A Bodies Only does the same and they managed to snag my usual spot last year.
I'll have to beat them to it this year.

I'm a member of the Old Chryslers Club, so I get onto the ball field too.
I try for the corner spot right behind the MCG tent because there is a dead space there where no one can park but my canopy fits nicely without blocking the walkway through the gate.

I'll have the 71 New Yorker out again. My wife got her 2012 Challenger in too. 
Yeah, just a parking lot car but the colour is at least interesting - Blackberry Pearl. I haven't seen any around.

Personally I would be unhappy if I got stuck on the diamond with all the dust/dirt.

If it makes you feel any better, in all the years we've been coming to MFest, we've simply told them when we drive in that we'd like to park "over there" meaning on the revine side.  They have NEVER given us any issues.
And if they do, we will proceed as you mentioned, drive around and go back there.
I do not like the dusty ball fields either.  We'll work it out!

They fill the field first and then the infield.
Since doing the club thing, I've only been on the dirt once and that was because the A Body group lined up along the fence and beat me to my favourite spot.

The car is on the float ready to go for tomorrow morning ,staying at the Hampton Inn in Kitchener ..Worked hard all summer this is going to be fun..I will also try to park in the back and bring some fishing rods too.
