I replaced my intake gasket and after reinstalling everything my 68 383 has a LOT more power.  It lites up the tires and chirps tires going into second now with no problem.  I have installed the intake three times, once back in '98 when finishing the engine, in 2010 when changing the valley pan to block the heat crossover (was told this helps horsepower due to cooler intake/carb) and just did it a third time because I didn't realize how long it would take to warm up.  NOW the car seems to have 30 more HP than it's ever had in the last 14 years since being restored.  Is it possible I had a vacuum leak this whole time???????  I didn't change anything else.  The car is stock.

That's what I think I have... Got my original carter 4401 installed today after being rebuilt and the car runs like crap. Has an off idle stumble, has some surging while crusing, and falls on it's face after 4000-4500. Tried tuning the carb didn't help.
