Hi Folks,

I have a 69 Charger R/T with only the rear end (8.75). No eng/no transmission. I was thinking of installing a complete 360 (going to be a daily driver). Can you tell me of any problems I might encounter if I go with the 360/727 TQ and the current rear end? Anyone else have this drivetrain?
Thanks-

DB

Should be a bolt in but not sure about the drive shaft length..

I swapped in a crate 360 into my 68 years ago. I used the "magnum" crate engine package from Mopar back then. The engine was nice, reliable, and still economical. The 360 will require the following:

1. Motor mount plates for 340/360 (offset mounting boss is different than the 318)
2. Weighted torque converter (can have the weight package welded to an existing Torque converter)

Your drive shaft length will depend on what transmission you use. If you end up using the 727 you won't have any problems.

360 crates ain't what they use to be. MP ones are now built around an aftermarket block, making the price of admission a lot higher than it use to be (I remember when they were about $3500).  Others come from re-builders with questionable quality reputations.

Do your homework.

If I was in your position I'd find a 360 with EFI and its computer.  No doubt about it.  If the 440 ever craps out that's the route I'm taking.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Or - you could go with a 5.7L hemi swap =  :icon_smile_big:
