the hood on my 69 shakes a little too much for my liking when driving down the road.  the secondary hood latch doesnt catch.  may seem like a dumb question but how is this supposed to work and how do u adjust it?

The secondary hood catch? That's not supposed to catch when the hood is closed. Do you have the rubber hood bumpers installed?

I guess what I am asking is when i release the main hood release, I do not even have to touch the secondary because it does not catch on the header panel.  it should , shouldnt it?  yes i have hood bumpers.

First thing, adjust the hood bumpers until they both touch the hood AND the hood is flush with the fenders. The hood should just snug down on them. Check for contact by applying some bay powder to the top of the bumpers, you'll see the bumper print on the hood. When this is done, loosen the bolts on the secondary hood latch just enough to slide it forward towards the front edge of the hood. Do this a skosh at a time until the secondary hook positively grabs the top grille plate. It should grab at least 1/4 inch. A bit at a time will keep it from grabbing to much and making the hood a bitch to open. This is not meant to be condescending but the secondary hook is a safety catch in case the main latch fails, it keeps the hood from flying smack up against the WS. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

That's my issue. There isn't any movement in the secondary hood latch. It doesn't allow me to adjust?
