I[m not sure if you actually read the add and looked at the pictures.... I'd say that a "rust free" 3rd gen in otherwise good shape would be worth $4K but that's not what the add says, just sayin    Oh, I got my Rust free 3rd gen 73 Charger SE (with a hole in the 400 block), for $2800.

Well see there, now I have to agree with that, it also says ",Buyer will need to reassemble" - so what the heck does that mean, how much to reassemble?  and we all know that even though he says it's 98% rust free there is more rust there than that...  I don't believe that peeps are reading the add

I read the ad.  Its worded poorly and obviously he had a higher price in mind at one point.  Its a project car and priced like one but even if it was a brilliantly worded ad with professional photos my thoughts on the car would be the same.
JUst curious I guess Silva but what do you think its worth and what is it in the ad that is jumping out at you so much?

No you are not reading that add, it does not say it has a good engine, it says it has a roller cam and needs to be started...  that could me a boat load of things.  As for my 3rd Gen I had a built 383 just waiting to go into a car, so as for them to be on par - yeah you keep telling yourself it is.

With the unknown of how much actual rust there is and having to put the car car back together, it being a 318 car I might pay $2k for it but only after having looked at it... If you guys want to pay $4k for that thing then that's your call.  

I find it so funny when you guys preach on here about being cautious and pick a person apart after not being then when I pick this car apart you attack me..  and no I could care less about you attacking me, I'm a big boy, it's just funny how when someone is cautious and from experience is skeptical you guys pounce...

I would not pay that much for that car, there is too much that needs to be done to even make it a driver and who knows how much rust is really there - WE HAVE NOT SEEN PICTURES only his word that it's 98% rust free.

I'm saying (if I wanted one) I'd talk him down on the driver and let him clean up his own junk pile. I'm tired of projects and I'm not willing to put a ton of time into a car that's worth almost as much finished as he's asking now. Seriously, a couple years ago I helped a kid sell a nearly mint survivor and he spent many months trying to get $6k out of it. I have no idea what he actually sold it for.

I do agree Troy, but it is fun to have a project around to play with.  I have been were the only car I had was a project and that is not fun, but if you can go for a cruize on the nice days and play with a project on the others, it's kinda nice.  I just have a hard time remembering I can't have them or save them all.

There was a '74 that was in decent shape, 383, running and driving and it sold for $6000. If I had the cash on hand I would have bought it in a heart beat. It sold within a week.

I agree that the car is probably not worth 4300 or the 3800 he mentions.....BUT if your selling a car do you ask exactly what you want for it?....or leave some wiggle room for someone to beat ya down a bit and feel like they won?

I would think with some negotiating skills that car could be had for around $3000....and I would be ok with that price if it the Body was truly 98% rust free.....I would clone it to a 72 rallye car

My reply was not an attack, either.     More that of a question.
I've seen sellers ask higher for heaps, that car just looks like a solid starting point in a desirable color combo.
Too many unknowns in the ad photo-wise to make a pinpoint statement, but loosely based on his description it is not in the stratosphere. I do believe he has priced it expecting some wiggle-room.

It is what it is: a clean project with a good starting point. If the seller gets his price, kudos to him.

Were all good guys  from what I got and what I paid for it (and I do think I got a descent deal on it), I wouldn't pay what he's asking but that's not to say that someone else wouldn't find it worth the price.  Now he does have a 72 bumper with with the brackets I've been looking for that I'm going to buy and it's at what I consider a fair price
