I came across this picture, I wonder if this car is still around, and if so if it still looks the same??

Captain Americas ride!!! It's definately vintage! I would bet if it's still around it's not in that paint scheme.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

It burned in a garage fire in the late 90's.   Very badly damaged along with about 50 other cars in a collection.    Most of the cars had full fuel tanks.   The wing melted off the car.    It is still around in the post-fire condition.

The car is UOA166169.   Employees of the owner were working on a truck with a propane tank inside or adjacent to the building where the collector cars were kept. Something related to a dry cleaning business he owned. The vehicle had a propane leak. When the garage doors were opened and the furnace kicked on - BOOM!

The paint job on it was done for the Bicentennial in 1976. It's a 4-speed car with a white interior and buckets.  A melted chunk of the wing was on Ebay several years ago.

a fellow toy collector from another forum i frequent shared this story about the car a while back.

At least Rome Benedicts car is still live and well. I heard that the new owner is going back to orange on the car though. I tried to buy the car a few years ago from a friend of mine but he had already promised it to someone else. I would have painted it back to Rome's colors. I would not however have worn the costume.  ;D

How in the world can it go from Romeo's car to that piece on BAT? !! I would guess the red white and blue custom piant was done mid to late 70's? yeah the uniform is pretty bad. :eek2:

Reagrdless of the VIN, I don't think the orange one is really Rome's old car.    I seem to recall this has been discussed before and someone knew where the car was.

Dub sold the Rome Benedict car for 50K about five or six years ago. It was stored inside for many years. I sure hope someone has purchased the car and moved it back inside. The car was blue at some point in it's life. I have pics somewhere. I'm not sure when the orange was put back on the car unless the blue paint was removed and left the orange color. Dub's owned numerous Superbirds over the years.

I have Dub's B5 six pack, 4 speed bird here at my shop now. We've just repainted it and it's being reassembled this week.

Back when Dub had the Rome Benedict car, he also had a 4 barrel column shift yellow bird that I had been offered by the previous owner several years ago in trade for a dragster and trailer that I had for sale. Talk about a stupid decision on my part.
