Is the 68 340 high stall converter the same as the one they used with 383s?

I picked up a low mile torque converter from a friend of mine that owned a 69 baracuda way back.
He wrecked the car and saved a bunch of parts and this was one of them.

Its the smaller converter (10 1/2) and it looks identical to the Road Runner converter.
Are they the same?  Chrysler posted a slightly higher stall on the 383 version (2650) but that may have been due to the torque of the 383.
I plan on installing behind a stock 440 I'm building.  Will it stand up?  Prior to this I used to large converter and wasn't pleased with the stall (to low).

Thanks

John Kunkel is a respected transmission guy that posts here sometimes. He has said in the past that there really is no specific stall speed to any converter. By that, I understand that he means that with so many variables out there, it is impossible to determine an exact stall rating. A 10 1/2" converter will stall higher in a big block, high performance engine than in a slant six, one barrel engine.

In '68, the 727-equipped /6, 318, 340 and 383HP all used the exact same converter; stall speed varied between 1650 and 2650 for that same converter so, yes, stall speed varies with the power input.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks.
I have one in the car now is the larger one (11 1/2), and then this one which is noticably smaller.  I understand the smaller one was used on the 383 HP Road Runner (and other performance applications).  Lower performance applications I think used the larger converter.

I guess as long as the smaller one doesn't die behind the torque of the 440 I should be good.

The only difference between the Hemi converter and the 340/383HP is the size of the threads in the drive lugs so, yes, it will stand up to the 440 equally well.

...............The 340 and 383 hp use the same converter.........318s had the same 1 as a 383 2bbl and 440s...........kim........

Thanks for your reply.  I'm going to try this converter, hopefully its not to loose for the 440.  The one I have on there now I don't like as much, very low stall.
