Why not set this up as a poll?

I like RIDLIKHL. But my state DMV (California) would kill the HL immediately. They would see that it means HELL and they are PC to the extreme. HL is offensive in their view. You should check with Ontario before you get your hell hopes up.

I got to steal your thread for a story. As an example of life in bizzaro California, my first choice was MAD 68. It was available, I was shocked !!!! And I was way happy! Turns out it was "available" because the DMV banned the use of MAD on a plate. It just looked available on-line, but not when you apply in person.

How you ask? Because, according to official state rules, MAD when viewed upside down spells DAM, as in DAMN. DAMN is offensive on a CA plate.

Really? Yes, was the answer. MAD upside down spells DAM. Well no it does not. Not in the real world, where it spells absolutely nothing. In DMV world it spells DAM. And that means DAMN and that offends.

I pointedly asked if that offends only upside down people - or - offends everyone? And further more, does the viewer have to be upside down looking at the plate - or - does the car have to be upside down to offend?

I was escorted out of the DMV and told to not harass the clerk.

My next choice was DMV SUX. That didn't work. So don't get your hell hopes up.

Story time over, now we can return to the subject matter of your plate choice.  :popcrn:

DMV SUX.... Thats awesome!   I would love to try this in my state just to see if it would actually pass...

I got a tag and still have it from the 70's that was HELRAZR.  2months later I was sent a notice to turn it back in for not meeting standards and it was passed by mistake.  Never did and left it on until I let it expire.  At least you get 8 letters.  I think we're still only allowed 7

I'd shoot for RDLIKH

That's just stunning.  If hell is not allowed does that mean heaven is not allowed either?  So what does the dmv call a dam in Ca?  A waterstopping structure?  Strange state....

Sorry, I don't have any tips for a vanity plate, it's one of those things that makes people crash into something because they're too busy trying to decipher it.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Bit slow off the mark.................what does DMV stand for?
I'm usually pretty good at deciphering plates but can't get this one. :scratchchin:

here we can just get 1-3 letters and 1-3 numbers, in that order. and the plate costs about 1400 usd. I wouldnt pay that... I wanted HA-1 because those are my initials and "hai" means shark in Finnish. but that´s taken and I couldnt justify the amount of money for it to myself anyway... :eyes:

Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Fred

MY wife has has 3 letters..........her initials. She was lucky to get them but she was quick off the mark when 3 letters were first allowed.
