WOW! what a combo..................great band, great car!
I'm thinking it must be where the inspiration for the song "Don't you love her madly" must have come from. :yesnod:

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

Allpar says that Jim drove a 1968 Dodge Charger from late 1969 to March 1971. http://www.allpar.com/history/celebrities.html

No pics or supporting evidence though.

There are a couple of older threads about that on here I'm pretty sure.  IIRC, there was a little more conclusive evidence in one of the threads.  There was a 68 Shelby involved too.

Here's another often seen pic of him in his Charger.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Must not have been a highly optioned Charger as it doesn't even have a remote driver's side mirror!

I would like to see that pic without the added image of him in the mirror.

...not the exact shot, but similar

I tried doing a little investigation on his Charger a few years ago and asked about it on a Doors fan club site.  The only info I received was that it was a Green color.  Since there seems to be a discernible difference in color between the Green and Black top in the black and white photo, it seems like it would have been a medium green color.  :Twocents:
Very cool though that Jim had such good taste in cars.  Apparently the Charger replaced the 67 Shelby GT 500 that he drove into a pole.

I have a green base model 68 Charger..... :scratchchin:

Wrong mirror though.

Is there not video footage somewhere of him with this car?  (don't know why I think that)

aussiemuscle

Thanks guys.
Who'd a thunk someone so famous could keep their car so secret?

Ghoste

He likely didn't own it long and probably used it very little.  Not to mention that in 1968 it would just be one of the hundreds of thousands of other new cars on the road.

There was a lot to report on Morrison and I don't think his car was one of the more spectacular headlines.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I have one of those and another Charger 500 band one (Lynyrd Skynyrd maybe?).

I was my understanding he wrecked up more than one Shelby Mustang, seemed he reported them stolen..

This one a little clearer
"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

I will ask my wife's Aunt if she knows anything.  She was a groupie" with the band for awhile, but I don't want to know much more than that :-\
