Hopefully I can drive around town and drive it to the track here...probably turn too high rpm for the highway....will know in a few days.  What would be the first motor upgrade you suggest?

Yeah, 4:56 is a lot of gear but the tires are pretty tall looking too so...

How tall are those tires?

If they are 31 inches it wouldn't be too bad on the highway.

Before you going changing things, drive it a summer and see what want to correct. Then you have all winter to fix the stuff your not happy with.

With the hydraulic cam and 456's you are going to run out of motor before the quarter mile mark.   Fun on the street but you'll want to go with Eddy heads and a solid cam.

With tires that tall the 4.56's shouldn't be that big a deal at highway speeds. Only one way to find out.... :D

A little calculator to play with. Say the stock diameter was 27 inches and you now have 33 along with the 4.56 gears, it acts like a 3.73 final drive.

Like I said, before changing stuff get to know the car first.

What would you suggest to toughen up the engine?  What kind of 1/4 mile times with that 4 speed do you guys think? Thanks

Nice car ! I'm assuming that the engine builder had the rotating assembly balanced during the rebuild ? If that's the case then you'll be fine spinning it up to 6000 but i wouldn't push it any higher. You can install a 6k chip in the MSD box and i would do that anyway to protect the engine in case you miss a shift.  :yesnod:

The cam isn't radical at all...it should idle with a nice lope and be very streetable. With Hyd lifters you're limited to 6k rpm so there's no point revving past that point....it won't make anymore power. Depending on cylinder head flow it should be in the 450hp/500tq range with the sum of it's parts. As for 1/4 mile ET's it depends on how much the car weighs and how well you can shift. Traction won't be an issue with the big tires and 4 link.  :icon_smile_cool:

The 4.56's are fine with a 33in tall tire. Basicly the same thing as 3.55's with a factory height tire so you won't be spinning the snot out of it.  ;)

As for the build quality it sure looks extremely well done. I'd say you did very well on this deal  :2thumbs:

I appreciate your input.  I will get it this week and have a better idea how it drives.  The video I received had a nice lope.  An auto would probably be better for drags but have always liked shifting.  Will update when it arrives and probably have more questions I'm sure.  Thanks again.
