I felt physically ill for a minute.  That was horrible.

Indygenerallee

I would say the tape was most likely a deliver driver for a large company, I know alot of trucking and smaller delivery type services are putting cameras in their vehicles to see how the driver is driving, just like the GPS units and the older "hows my driving call 1-800-bugoff"   I know insurance has a lot to do with it!

Yes, speed was definitely a factor.   You could tell traffic was moving good by the lines going by on the road.

HOLY CRAP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hitting that  icey slush can cause your vehicle to swerve to one side. IF that box truck was not there he would have slid off the RIGHT side of the road. being a retired truck driver the semi is a lot of rolling weight however, disintegrating that SUV like it did was a shock. it seemed everyone was at close to the same speed. I also have a dash cam in my pick uptruck that can be flipped on if it is needed, it is a very small "spy cam" that has about 35 minutes of run time unless you get a larger XD card, it has full sound and hi def color. The fact the guy had a dash cam will help the highway patrol & DOT see exactly what happened.

One moment you're living, thinking about what you have to do this week, the next moment you're dead.

Reminds me of a story...

"The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.' Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.' But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?' This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God."

The video shook me up a lot.. I have seen people die like that in front of me in the last 30 years of driving truck. I showed it to my oldest son, it shook him up. That's all it takes.

IF YOU HAVE YOUNG TEENS THAT DRIVE SHOW THIS TO THEM AND EXPLAIN WHY!!!! It only takes a milli second to happen.

I feel for that truck driver too. Wasn't his fault, but he still killed inocent people.

BTW - that's why when I am driving in that weather, I ALWAYS have my 4 wheel drive locked in. That might of helped out to keep the rear from swinging around like that, with the front end pulling.

Is God's word considered "religion"?
My 1969 Charger. RIP......Rest in pieces.

Mike DC

A lot of churches are built on teaching God's word from the bible.
If that isn't "religion" then we've been giving a lot of tax exemptions for those churches in error.

But religion or not, Christianity permeates this culture.  No need to make a stink about the occasional bible verse in conversation IMHO.

Wow. Yea, I bet death wasn't on the agenda but there's really no way to control the time or place.

Speaking of time or place, when/where did this happen? I'm curious how many people died (assuming they did). I've seen many police videos that looked very bad and I would swear someone must have died only to find out there were "only minor inuries" and the people walk away.

daveco

This is from the comments section for the video on YouTube:

"The accident took place on the М-7 road in the Petushinski District, Vladimirskaya Region in Russia on February 24, 2012.
The driver of Nissan Navara died instantly, he was the only person in the SUV"

Found these video grabs on another site.

I thought it must have been in another country because the peoples speech sounded like gibberish, So is that suppose to be a pic of Nissan flying through the air?? kinda looks like a person i suppose, terrible. When is this gonna be on "1000 ways to die" (My 4 year old daughter loves that show) we drive by the graveyard and she says my great grandpa maesch is there he was a old man (91 when he passed) Good for kids to know about death at a early age, no need hiding the ineveitable from them.

So many people die everyday on the roads and for most of the time, when it is local you read about in a small article in the 2nd page of your newspaper. Usually it has little impact on you or how you might approach your driving. When you actually see or witness it happening. Then the horrific reality of peoples lives being wiped out in a instant makes you think a little more.
When it comes to vehicle accidents there are usually three causes. Driver error, mechanical failure and weather conditions. The one that causes most accidents is the one you have the most control over and that is driver error. You can't control the other guy, but you can reduce your own risk by applying good driving habits and being on the watch out for that other guy.  I know this sound like a lecture, but it is pretty much what I told my two kids when they first started driving...

440

Yikes, that looks like a person flying out on the left of the still shots

FJ5WING

if the steel vehicle is disintegrated why would you guys think a human body would be exiting out of the carnage? That man is in just as many pieces as his Nissan.
I wonder how the big trucks driver fared? that thing took some heavy heat too.
wingless now, but still around.

ACUDANUT

There is no guy flying out of the vehicle.   The only thing flying is a vehicle with alot of plastic on it. :Twocents:

Mike DC

I still can't believe the SUV came apart so completely from that impact.

Even if the truck crunched the shit out of it, it should still be a wadded-up SUV, not a million pieces.  We're normally pretty impressed with the severity of the impact when a vehicle ends up in 2 large halves, never mind this kind of scattering.

Could it be due to reduced foreign crash standards?

Old Moparz

That was nasty.  :o

About a month ago I was heading north on the NYS Thruway. Clear day, no rain, dry pavement & traffic was light & moving at about 70 MPH. This stretch of road was 2 lanes each side with a large grass median in the center that was at least 100 feet wide. About 10 to 12 car lengths in front of me, I watched a small car drifting from the left lane to the right lane where there was a SUV. I kept thinking that this guy would catch his mistake but when he crossed the white broken lines I knew what was going to happen.

I had already let off the gas to get more distance between us when the car hit the SUV. The SUV driver kept it under control, but the driver in the car over compensated & went left sideways. The car did the exact same thing that the black SUV did in the video but since there was a grass median & no oncoming traffic adjacent to us he ended up in the grass. He did manage to keep the car upright & straight, but twice it went back & forth & I thought it was going to roll sideways when the car leaned.

Accidents can happen, but people can be their own worst enemies behind the wheel & probably cause more accident doing something stupid than anything else. Driving too fast in bad weather, texting, falling asleep, drinking, etc. Sometimes when I see this crap I think it's just safer to stay home.

We had a similar accident some years ago....drunk 23 year old female went across the median and hit a semi head on...yea there is no way that is the drivers seat or a person flying out of that van....they are in pieces seen what happens first hand   :-\

Having put 600 miles / day on in the oil patch for a few years & driving on nothing but ice roads this is typical  , we had 5 drivers at one company I worked for , 4 were in accidents , 2 were killed guess which one I am !! Some luck & a lot of skill .
Last year in McMurray we had freezing rain in Jan  , it coated the highway with approx 1" of ice , no sand or salt was used , it lasted approx 3 weeks like this , I saw accidents every single trip I made which typically was  4-6 trips / day ,maybe you become jaded seeing it everyday ? I had the windshield ice up as the defroster was screwed in the 2011 Furd I was driving ,I could not see where the highway was at all , it had never iced previously so I was caught by surprise , I slowed down & eased towards the ditch rather than risk a head on , got sucked into the ditch & spent 3 hrs trying to get out . I saw small cars rolled into balls trapped between two trucks , 1/2 dozen trucks and cars wheels up , the constant carnage was incredable !!
In that video he touches the brakes & cannot recover the skid , brakes are a no no , kick it into neutral , gear down so only 2 wheels lock so you can retain steering control at least.
I have been first on the scene at at least a dozen fatalities , a 4x4 Dodge pick up blew past me one day , caught up to it about 5 mins later parked under a tractor trailer , he caught the ditch & launched over the bumper head on into a semi , it pushed it back into the ditch & parked on top with the momentum , the box & cap ripped completely off the frame & slide about 1/4 mile up the highway on the ice . I also saw a head on at a measley 30 mph , a Chevelle pushed the engine in the Mustang between the seats in the stang , the driver didn't make it . Suprisingly the Chevelle drove home .
Men plan God laughs !

The car hit the overpass sideways and broke in half. The T tops likely saved him. I had a buddy that died in the 80's ejected out through T tops, but in this case it likely saved the life getting him out as the car broke into pieces.

I have seen some bad accidents. The worst thing I ever saw had little vehicle carnage. A guys car broke down, he tried to cross the opposite lane on foot and hit by another car at 2 am. The car dragged him half a mile. I happened on the scene in the lane the hit guys car was in as the cops were blocking off both sides to collect evidence, and I was car #1. He was feet away and I will never forget it. Without getting graphic, he looked like he burned in a fire and was trying to stand up when he passed. One hand on the ground, one clawing toward the sky, face showing an expression of unfathomable pain. On the news the next afternoon they covered it and interviewed his mother. She was crying and said something along the lines of "This is the most terrible thing I have been through. But the Lord took him quickly and he didn't suffer."

There 's a show on tv (forgot the name) that looks into crashes and figures out how exactly it happened, this crash was one of them.  He survived becuse when the car snapped in half he got ejected out that side.  The only thing he hit was pavement as you can see him slide towards the side of the road.  He had a lot of recovery ahead of him but at least he lived.
