guys i have a 69 charger with a factory 318 and auto trans.  im assuming the trans is a 904 but any help id that would be great.  but the rear end has me confused.  what axles came in them for my year.  it doesnt look like a 834 or a dana 60.  it looks lik ea 60 cover but i doubt its that.  and its not oval like a 814. thanks

honestly if i knew how to post pix i would.  but the rear end diff cover is 10 bolts.  the cover is round not like those pictured.  how bout the trans . any way to id it from a 727 to 904

The above picture of the 8 1/4 isn't totally accurate. the cover is more round than that one. Its possible that you have the 8 1/4. regardless, if you have an axle with a 10 bolt cover, its the 8 1/4" unit. Also, it is very unlikely that the factory would have put a 727 in there with the light duty axle.
The 904 trans pan looks like a square with a corner cut off. The 727 is also sorta square, but has a bulge on one side.

8 1/4 from what i read is not bad, can handle a little power.  i dont drag race or anything.  hell cant even afford to go spin the tires on a consistant basis.  but I will be looking at putting a 400 hp 408 in soon.  i think it should last till I can upgrade.  I dont wanna mess around too much the car is numbers matching
