383 engine with 906 heads with two barrel carb

Got my 383 engine took some picks  looks like I got 906 heads for a 2 barrel thought 383 with 2 barrels did not have 906 heads. I was wondering if some body just though on a 2 barrel on to save on fuel. I will put pics up and nubers can you guys help. It would be nice if my cam was already set up for 4 barrel carb and just need to rebuild the engine. thanks guys

Engine block number: 246813010

Date on engine: 8  27 68

Number on both heads: 2843906

Number on intake for two barrel carb: 2843681

I think that is right for most any 68-70 383/440

That's what my 383/2bbl/4spd came with and still has.

906s were used on all big blocks. They were not HiPo specific as some literature might seem to indicate.

BULL did you have to internally balance your engine I want to make mine a 4 speed tranny as well. The 383 engine I had had a auto tranny in it. nice how much horse power do you have with your engine stock  BULL.

Yes, all 383s were internally balanced in 68. My horsepower is calculated to be around 400.
