Hello all,

I am rebuilding my 727 and have a budget of about $500 apart from a rebuild kit what other parts would you recommend replacing/ upgrading, it's going in a 73 charger mild built 383 with 400hp roughly

500 will not give you much options. I would tear it down 1st, see what components are in it, and what the condition of the hard parts are before ordering anything. Adjust fire from there.

Will it not? Even worse I'm in the uk and it to cost over $100 shipping, great advice I shall do that, is a bolt in sprag worth it? What's the advantage of it? And a duel ring billet servo?

The average overhaul kit with bands and valve body plates is around 300, a case of good fluid is 100, your 100 shipping has now spent your entire budget, youve bought no converter or even thought about a cooler or deep trans pan.

If your core is in decent shape, a lot of the "extras" usually recommended are unnecessary for 400 hp. A quality performance rebuild kit and a good reprogramming kit like the Transgo TF-2 are all you need.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Don't forget the door eaze for the o-ring to put the oil pump back in.

Thank you all for replying, I understand for the money I'm not going to get a lot, I can't save a bit more if needed, it's just like people say for 400hp what would you recommend replacing I understand I'm not going to need all the fancy aftermarket parts, it's going to be couple of drives a month car and like once a year trip to the strip, is it recommended to change the converter? I have a cooler built into the bottom of my rad and have can source a deep pan in the uk for about 60 bucks, what's door eaze? Also I've been recommended to source parts from a lot of company's what do people suggest are okay? I've heard B&M and they have a handy guide, TCI, A&A, also people said just get a cheap kit on eBay?

Oops I spelled it wrong. Door-ease dry stick lubricant. Basically a hard stick of grease you think wouldn't do a thing but lubricates the seals perfectly so though don't flip over during installation. The three different rpair manuals I have of 1975 to like 2013 vintage all say to use it, and show the same black and white 1960s vintage picture.  Also it package has changed since than.  I would also recommend the atsg chrysler a727/904 repair manual. It does a decent job stepping through the rebuild. John is the man for part recommendations. I've only had to rebuild by 904. Twice now. Didn't realize until reading through here and his multiple times of explaining to others that my kick down linkage was messed up. So I ended up burning up a disc pack again. Over 20,000 miles and 15 yrs though so I was to far off.
