It's a miracle the current didn't carry them away, though it almost happened to the one tank truck. The drivers are lucky, though the ones at the end weren't. Stranded on top of the truck...how do you get back to shore? Those guys are screwed.  :shruggy:

Russians know how to build trucks and tanks and many other cool things......

What do you suppose they're carrying that makes them heavy enough to not get washed downstream?  That's a heck of a side profile to not get rolled.

any trk can do it with the same snorkel kit, real hummers can have snorkel kits but they are usually to low to the ground in the first place, i've driven the older 5ton military tractors with the fording kit on it just like they have

Come on,any truck can do it?Who in their right mind would do things like that unless it's necessary?Any truck, bullshit!!!I don't know much about trucks but doubt any peterbulit or other make would be able to do it!Prove me wrong!

Been watching swamp lodgers and sometimes they get stuck because of the mud! These guys go through a 7 foot deep river with strong current and with a trailer! Those old Russian trucks are as rough as they come but it's impressive what they did!

bull

Have they got something against roads and bridges or what?

cavemanno1

It's Russia, completely different word from you guys! The quality of life is way beyond what you have over there, like a third word country!
I bet Russians came up with this saying"necessity is the mother of invention"

surmanajaja

yeah I am familiar with those since they were in use in the army here also. they drive terribly on the road, and use INSANE amounts of gas, but they will go anywhere..and they start in any weather, just put a fire under the engine few hours before starting if its cold winter.

the guys over there in siberia are drunk 24 hours a day. and they will do lifethreatening things every day- they just dont care.  :shruggy:

i didn't say it wasn't cool to do, its especially cool the first time you do it yourself 'cause the drill sergeant is yelling at you not to stall the damn thing out cause he's not swimming to shore.

when i said any trk i meant any trk that is built for this environment, basically military to us, with their road structure and wilderness mining operations normal everyday to them, your peterbuilt is a "road tractor" it's NOT designed to go off road.  if you watch the video you can see the air cleaner on the passenger fender and the snorkel above it.  no axle breathers and deisel injection and you have a sealed system.  i didn't have a video back in the military but part of the advanced traing for truck drivers (88M) used to be fording rivers just like that.

I was thinking the same thing.   I wonder if the tankers are filled with water on the return trip.

Not entirely true. Russians are pretty tough people that have been brought up this way. When Germans surrounded Stalingrad/St Petersburg they were evacuating people/sending supply trucks across frozen river.

what its not entirely true? have you been there because I have. always a glass of vodka on the table, doesnt matter if its morning or afternoon.

I am not sure what you mean by tough. in russia suicide rates are huge, so is drug use and alcoholism because ppl cant cope with the hard life. driving over ice is not considered tough over here, just normal on winter time.of course if the truck goes through ice then driver was stupid.

them air intakes looked a a bit short for my liking though  :o
