Locking gas cap key blank

For anyone that has a locking gas cap, and needs a key, the blank is a ILCO B1 (1098M). If you need advice on "making" a key work, let me know, and I will walk you through it!

I'm sure there is something different on the outside but I've never held an OE cap in my hand to know. As for the inside, the OE caps took single-sided keys I believe while the reproduction caps use double-sided keys. Not sure why Layson's went 95% of the way with accuracy before stopping at the lock but I would imagine there was some sort of supply problem or argument between them and a supplier or perhaps this much of a difference helped them avoid licensing fees to Chrysler.

Whatever the reason, I asked because there was some effort by certain members here to find a correct-looking keys with the word GAS on them for the repro locks but I've never seen anybody find one that looks close.

Well, sound's like mine is OEM then as I have single sided key and it says GAS on the key blank to boot. 

Cool. I believe (although I cannot prove) that my car came with a locking gas cap because in 68 they apparently had a funky flip-top cap that was specially made to cover the OE locking caps. My car had one of these funky caps when I bought it.
