Ok,
got the ft half of the body blasted this afternoon and I knew I had rust issues to deal with, but now realize they are worst than I thought.

Only the channel along the bottom of the windeshield channel where the trim clips attach . all kinds of little pin holes ( some are more than just pinholes btw )

so . My question is

would you replace the whole cowl even though the rest of it  looks mint.

OR buy the new cowl panel and cut out and weld in only what you need and move on.

Or blast it all clean  and lead the holes shut , seam seal it , install new clips and go

Can you just weld the pinholes? If it's not too terrible that would work. You're going to get better feedback if you post a picture.

Mine was rotten in the bottom where the windshield chanel meet the top side of the cowl(whole corner was gone width of the chanel) and also rotton in the bottom corner where it meets the firewall. Is yours soft there too ? I planed on just changing the upper, but discovered the lower around the vent holes was rotten too. Changed them both on mine.

I would either change it all or else make a patch piece to fit. I wouldn't buy a new cowl and hack it up for patches and then have to finish off the seams where it was sectioned in on the car.

I think you'll find that when you try and "Weld" the "pinholes" shut, all you end up doing is making little holes into big holes.

If it's that bad, I'd replace the entire cowl being that you need to seam seal the top of the fresh air vent and any other areas. You might be surprized at how "Mint" it looks when you get the cowl off.
