Got my fuel sender out while im cleaning my tank, never had enough gas in it to register but i wanted to check it while it was out-heres a pic of my ohm meter and sender. Please explain what exact position the meter needs to be at and if I have the probes in the right slots on the meter, ive never done this so youll have to be specific.I know ur supposed to raise the float up and down after contact but thats about all I know...
This is gonna be cheap and easy......

You can read the rheostat on the fuel gauge better with an analog meter. If there's any glithes or bad spots in it you'll see it on the analog.

To test the sender put the red lead on the post where the wire goes, and the black to the metal. You should read 10(+/-)ohms at full, and 78(+/-) empty.

Set it to 200 ohms, and the leads are in the right place. Is this for your 66?
