Fantastic job.  :drool5:   I read all 8 pages.  Can you give us any history of the car, and how you came about getting it?  How rare is the engine paint trani combo etc?
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Chris

I bought the car back in 1984 while I was still in High School and I am the third owner. The cars drivetrain is numbers matching but obviously is no longer stock under the hood. The car has pretty much been in storage the entire time that I have owned it up until the end of 2005 when I decided it was time to get her restored and back on the road.

As far as breakdowns go for 1972 Charger Ralleys there were 289 72 Ralleys with the 340 Magnum / 4 - speed combo. I was also able to find out that out of the 289 Ralleys only 55 had the 3.55 rear gears. As far as breaking it down by any other options any furthur I have not had any luck. I had Galen Govier do the research on the car and he has only done 2 other 340 / 4 speed cars. The research that he did do on the car was based solely off of the VIN and Fender Tag, the build sheet which is complete was not located until after Galen had researched the car so I am not 100% sure that there arent any other options that might make it a rarer car, I would not mind having him look at the build sheet for me but when he did the Vin and Fender tag that process ended up taking 8 months and I really do not feel like dealing with the frustration again.

Hope I was able to answer all your questions.

Thanks for the info Chris and 69hemi I am looking forward to finding out more about it. I want to get that done for my next project. Does anyone know exactly what I should be searching for on the web to find out more about it? Also I am close to Kansas City Missouri does anyone know if someone does that around here? thanks again.

My guy is near Milwaukee but look for a chain called Redi Strip.  i have never used them and can't vouch for their work but they seem to have a lot of locations.  If you want to make the 6-hour haul to Milwaukee and have my guy do it, you are welcome here at the ranch.

Beautiful resto, Chris! Is this car FE5 Rallye Red?

One thing I've always wondered about the chem strip process--how do you paint the inner rocker boxes and other hidden structure after having the shell dipped? I have a '71 Charger I'd like to do this to, but I'm not sure how to get all those nooks and crannies primed to prevent rust after the fact.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hey Makdaddy

Car is Hemi Orange. As far as painting all of the nooks and crannies goes, I dont think that you will ever get everything, spray what you can see and try to get everything.

Wow now I'm depressed. My 73 won't be anything close to being that nice. But that one there is so nice I'd be afraid to drive it where I live. I'm building mine taking some shortcuts that are acceptable but not restoration correct but I wasn't able to do the undercarriage up that nice so I won't be afraid to get a rock chip underneath. It's especially hard to do it in a suburb garage that it will barely fit in and on top of that all by myself. But that's a nice car you've done, it must be fun to be able to do all that and have all the available shop area and painting supplies to make it look that nice.

Id like to talk to you more about your car.  I have a 340 4 speed 72 Rallye car also and  its loaded with options and Id like to figure out what options you have compared to mine.   Thanks,Dave-
