69 Charger Front Bumper Guards

I note that there are two styles of these.  One style is longer than the other and extends above the front curved edge of the bumper.  I've heard that whatever bumper guard you got was dependant on what was in the barrel when your car went past that station on the assembly line.  If this is the case, is the actual bumper itself the same (same holes punched in it)----thus allowing someone to put whichever style of bumper guard they liked best on their car.

I looked at the AMD website and the bumper guards they sell appear to be the longer style.  I wonder if anyone has the shorter style for sale as a repop.

I think most believe the longer bumper guards were a mid year change and are seen more on Chargers built later in the year in '69.

And yes the bumpers are the same regardless of the short or long bumper guards.

Also, those are the shorter ones on AMD.

These are the long ones and they actually wrap around the top of the bumper, and I don't believe anyone repops the long ones...that I've seen anyways.

I went back to the AMD site and, sure enough, those are the shorter bumper guards.  Has anyone bought a set?  How did they fit?  If OK, I will probably order a set.  I don't think I like the look of the longer ones.

I fitted quite a few on customer cars and each time they fitted perfectly. I can recommend them no worries.  :2thumbs:

Thanks for that feedback.  I will order a set.

Does anyone know if there is any kind of rubber gasket that fits between the bumper guards and the bumper?

no gasket between the bumper and bumperettes.
