This thread was Dave's idea, but since he didn't start it, I guess I will.   :icon_smile_big:

Hope it lasts longer than the Obituary Forum one.

I don't get to the movies much to see new ones & probably won't add much to it unless I see somethng on HBO that isn't too old. The last one I saw in the theater was the cartoon movie, "The Adventures of Tin Tin" with my wife & daughter.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0983193/

I used to watch the cartoon on TV as a kid & I was curious if the characters would be the same. My daughter saw the commercials for it & wanted to see it, & it didn't matter to my wife, so we went. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best, I'd give it a 6. My wife & daughter enjoyed it, there was humor, action, & didn't have a complicated plot to it. The story was decent, sort of like the Indiana Jones stories, & it was the type of cartoon movie that an adult can handle watching. Some are absolutely painful to sit through if you have no choice & need to bring your kids to see a movie. After seeing it I discovered that I have no idea if the characters were the same in the new movie version compared to the original TV show, I can't really remember them.   :smilielol:

So.....

If you saw a recent movie & want to recommend seeing or avoiding it, post up a review so we can judge whether we all want to see it.

I might have to go with the movie Drive Angry. I am not really a Nicholas Cage fan but he did a really good job playing a devil's advocate. And there is a sweet 69 charger throughout the whole movie that Amber Heard drives making it even more enjoyable. I would give it an 8. Another movie I would recommend is Drive. It is really slow and doesn't have crazy action sequences like a Jason Statham movie would, but it is artfully done so it is very enjoyable. I would give it a 9 because some things just felt unanswered for me. Also mopars galore.   :2thumbs:  :coolgleamA:  :popcrn:

I enjoyed "Drive Angry" too, in fact I bought the dvd because of the 69 charger. It's in it from beginning to (almost ) the end unlike some other car movies where you only get a glimpse of a mopar. And the storyline wasn't too bad either.
Drive was okay.....................but once is enough!     :popcrn:

Looks like Dave is back more and more

Ghost rider 2.One of the worst movie ever that Nicholas Cage done!I know he's done some real bad ones lately but this one sucks even more! :loser:
He is in the same category like Van dam and Steven Seagal!Trying to come back with terrible movies shot in Easter Europe :shruggy:

Mike DC

Nicolas Cage has an extravagant lifestyle and he owed the IRS a bunch of money.  So he spent several years starring in basically any piece of trash that was offered to him.

I do, but they were reruns by the time I had seen them. I think the "Tin Tin" cartoon was late 60's & early 70's.   :shruggy:

Will have to check it out.
Everything I've seen lately (and looked forward to with great anticipation) has been a big let down. Not sure if it's me  or if they're making nothing but rubbish!

"Drive" was a piece of shit. Slow, slow, slow. B O R I N G! Two chase scenes totalling less that 2 minutes total screen time. The first scene was with the lead actor driving a late model Impala. Wow... How EXCITING.
Lots of Mopars? Yeah, they had a few, but they were all sitting still. I have THAT in my backyard.
The movie ads and trailer led people to believe that it was a fast moving action flick. It was not.

Fred

"Drive" was boring? Try watchng "Immortals" .....................the first halve was so boring that we had to skip forward and the second halve we watched in fast forward!! :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

I mean "Drive" was pretty slow but this one takes the cake!!

Like Liam Neeson's movies,The Schindler's list,Taken,Unknown and The grey!Unpredictable and enjoyable great movies i think!
Watched the We bought a zoo with Matt Damon but it's only a OK movie! You know what will happen in the end!

Oh i just remembered a great movie which is well worth to watch it over and over!A bit old one and it's called Pay it forward!

Peter

"Pay it forward" was a bit corny, but I liked the message. Being nice to those around you CAN make society a better place.

I totally agree Peter..

Prometheus:  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1446714/

Supposedly a prequel to Alien, directed by the same man Ridley Scott.

Me and the wifey decided to finally go see a 3D movie.  We both hadn't done that since the 70's probably so seeing as this should be a tad better we gave it a shot.

Let me start by saying that after the initial few minutes getting used to the glasses and funny looking screen, it was awesome!!!!  I did not expect 3D to become this good, it actually looks as if the screen is everywhere and you can almost touch things.  Good stuff!

As far as the movie itself goes, the scenery is amazing, the acting is pretty decent, some are actually very good, and the audio is impressive.  That's about as far as the good stuff goes.  The writing was either done by someone who writes for soaps, a 4 year old, or a trained chimp in which case the chimp deserves a cookie.

The movie was boring, trite, left more questions than it answered and in short was a waste of time.  You may want to skip this mess and save your money.  You might as well go rent Event Horizon which, although still sucked, was probably better.

We left the theater feeling taken yet again, seems it's getting hard to make a decent movie these days.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Fred

You're not wrong there, the wife and I always feel that way too. Greatly look forward to something and come away feeling completely deflated.
Maybe we just expect to much and therefore come away disappointed.
If it wasn't for the special effects in movies these days what would be left? Nothing!
I find though that when you watch a movie for the second time you actually enjoy it more because you no longer expect anything from it. You just get on with watching it and not waiting for it to be anything more than what it is.
