Well i'm finally buckling down and getting this car done. I bought it 12 years ago when I was 17 and started buying parts. But between college, girls, my '72 Challenger, racecars, starting a family, buying a house, more racing and numerous other projects things never really got off the ground. So now i'm determined to get it done with a few less distractions and a little more motivation.

Heres some pics I took over the last week. More to come when money and progress happen. Enjoy

I will be replacing both quarters, both wheel houses, trunk floor, rear frame rails, full front floor pan, torsion bar cross member, rocker panels, dutchman panel and sail panels. Along with some other small patches. The front fenders, hood, doors and roof are in decent shape and won't need as much attention.
It will be Hemi orange when complete. Steel wheels with dog dish caps. Black interior
The engine is an early 400 that I plan to make a 451 Stroker. It has the original 4 spd and 8 3/4 sure grip with 3:23 gears. If I end up being able to buy the original 383 back the 400 will probably end up in my Challenger.

Nothing a little AMD won't fix :)

With all the effort in the body I'd do whatever it takes to get the original motor back. Pay a visit to the oldman again with $800.

I'm sure he would sell. Has to know that that is way more than its worth.

A friend of mine got this '69 Satallite for free as a parts donor for his Road Runner and come to find out my Charger will benefit from it very well. The A pillar, windshield  and cowel are all in excellent condition as well as many areas for patch panels

It had a one way ticket to the bone yard but now will contribute to three more project cars before it goes  :2thumbs:

Hard to tell from the pic, but whats up with the rear crossmember? Is it NOS? It doesnt look like an AMD piece (or atleast nothing like the AMD crossmember that I just bought). Is at another vendor? It looks way more correct than my AMD piece does...or is it the original that looks like its in great shape?
1968 Charger R/T, matching numbers 440/727, black with green top and interior, currently getting restored by me

Chargers have a different cross member than the other B-bodies.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

The donor car is completely original. Alot of the pieces are different from the Charger especially since it's a 4door. I'm using alot of the sheet metal just for patch panels because alot of the angles are the same. It's going to save time and money

terrible one

I think he's referring to the piece that ties the rear frame rails together on the Charger. Looks like the color of EDP coating and looks to have some barcode stickers or something on it.

Oh ya that makes sense. Yes the rear crossmember on the Charger is aftermarket and it's just tack welded there for now. I bought it from Auto Body Specialties Inc about ten years ago

440 Fanatic

I commend you on having such excellent taste at the age of 17 , in a time when that was very rare.
BTW , I had a 72 Challenger as well,  318/3 Spd Std. in the floor.  Sadly, I sold it in '88  for $1200.00,  damn hindsight sucks.

Keep up the progress ! And pics  :)

440 fanatic, I think he is 29 not 17.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Thanks. I almost sold this car twice in the past few years but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I know I would kick myself forever if I let it go. I'm determined to get it done now though.

Indygenerallee, he was refering to when I bought the car, I was 17
