I have 2 or 3 that I would sell but shipping is a killer. I've shipped one to CA before but it was completely rebuilt already (ie much more $$$ than a "core" motor).

Excuse my rant

There are tons of these "gas prices and driving muscle car" posts.  If anyone is worried about gas prices and owning a muscle car, get rid of it, who cars about milage, its the fun of the car.

I didnt just spend $10,000+ on a new interior in the 41 Chrysler to have it sit in the garage, i didnt just spend $5000 on the Super Bee interior to just have it sit in the garage.

I have been accosted at the gas station by crazy hybrid drivers.  In the H2, "how much do pay for gas in that thing"?  Same as you buddy.  "Bet it costs a ot to go anywhere in that"  Hey how much would you pay to drive probably the safest, and capable truck on the road?

In the Reliant with the "My Other Car is a 69 Super Bee" frame.  A Leaf driver, at about 300lbs.  "69 Super Bee, i bet that sucks gas, you should be ashamed"  Me... Hey why dont you go join a gym with all that gas money you are saving"?

it goes on, who wants to be a kool ade drinking zombie drone who is in a trance on the road, i have fun when i drive.  I tell all these guys to go google a lithium mine and then tell me who is polluting the environment.

Sorry rant off

This goes back to my deep pockets post. For you the mileage doesn't matter as saving 1K on gas means squat. Just guessing on that but still others on this board have a much smaller budget & it may matter to them. :Twocents:
This original post was not meant as a go green statement. I just wondered if the high cost of gas would sway some people to keep the 318 or 383 many of these Chargers came with.

Sorry, no deep pockets really, my wife's dad left a big settelment when he passed away, otherwise i would not have spent that much, i just get tired of minding my own business at a gas station and random environmentalists irritating me.  The Bee has a 440, the 73 Duster has a 318 and the 70 has a Slant, the 440 is way funner to drive though.

Ican't say that its impacted my other driving either.  I'm not talking about necessary trips like driving to work but the non-Charger unessentials like taking the long way home from work.  I like to drive so it just means less money available for little things like grabbing a Coke  when I refuel the car.  :D

Sublime/Sixpack

The rising cost of gasoline wouldn't affect my engine choice but will affect how I drive. I find that when gas prices go up I tend to do more easy cruising than wide open throttle type driving.
For me it has more to do with letting the greedy SOB's keep their over priced fuel than actual out of pocket expense. Also when fuel prices go up I tend to ride the motorcycles more often.

I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

Agreed.  I don't even think twice about the gas because the car is where I've decided my money will go to.  For others it's their home, their kids, dog, Pokemon collection, etc.  Of course, for those of you who are juggling more than one thing at a time, such as family and a home I'm amazed that you can keep your sanity...

I drive her how she's meant to be driven...............otherwise she complains!  :drive: :drive: :drive:

This thread would have been short if the question would have been who doesn't want a 440!

The "holier than thou" attitude of alot of the green-car owners is likely to be only the beginning of the problems we'll be facing as the owners of fuel-inefficient musclecars.  These cars, especially the older ones, represent a form of freedom that is under assault from many quarters.  I've had a fairly apocolyptic view of this country's future for some time now, and I really haven't seen much lately to change that. If I can somehow justify keeping mine, it will be because it's good for my mental health, and very little else.  It is a form of "sustainable" (ie. the average guy can maintain it) technology that has tangible value because of it's unique combination of art/beauty/performance and even nostalgia.  These cars were once considered "investments" and while some may still be, the bloom is going off of that rose fairly quickly.  And that is a function of demographics, as much as it is economics and "political corectness".  I've owned and enjoyed my car for over 16-years now, and I hope to continue to do just that.  But....my justification for owning it keeps getting more tenuous with each passing year.

I once gave the little green car thing a try when gas was at it's peak price. Can't say I liked it much. Where the attitude comes from is that the greenies are driving a miserable POS even though many of them can afford a much nicer car. They become bitter when they see you having fun or relaxing in supreme comfort. They want you to buy a little crap can so you can share their misery. You can only go so small. Last time I checked, cars were getting smaller yet people remain the same size. The gas station is the natural forum where they can complain. I always tell them that I get a lot for my gasoline dollar.

Well, Some of us owned these things for the cars BEFORE the greed brubbin', Money hungry, Flippers got into the High end flipping..For us, it was, has, and will always be about the cars no matter how much it is "Considered" to be worth.

I'm far from rich/well off..I've come to terms with the fact I'll be supporting the POS that rape the system and "Aliens" so, I might as well enjoy myself. For me, the last time I was on Vacation at a beach was when I was little in 1982.
The car is my mini-vacation. Take that away from me and you will have yet another POS on the system as there's no reason to bust my ass if it has no fun anymore.
I've had ALOT of people tell me what my cars are worth, but the funny thing is, I have yet to see that illusive suitcase full of money, so back to the basics.

I feel good today. I woke up late yesterday found my daughter took my wifes van and was making her rounds around town the other 2 kids took the car and were in school and the wife took my van and was at work. I was off from work and the only thing I needed to do was drop a check in the bank that is less then 200 yards down the street. So I took the charger out put 40 dollars in gas in it dropped the check off at the bank. Funny thing is when I take the charger to the bank it always puts 20 miles on the car.
