"Up for sale one last time before I part it out. Factory 440hp auto 1972 Dodge Charger Rallye car. I've had it too long and even though the pictures makes it look bad,. it's really pretty restorable. The car has a fully loaded fender tag and has duel swaybars, louvered taillights, mint louvered doors, 3:55 suregrip, console/ bucket seats and tinted glass and matching radiator too. I does have exterior rust and lots of bondo, but it is a real 440HP car. I have a link below to where I have over 90 pictures of the car. I am asking $2,995 firm for the car. I have not gotten as many responses as I had hoped, and so far I have about 8 cars, including mine. At this point, I am open to listing the 1972 charger rallye with any engine/trans combination. I have corresponded with John Bober, who has two excellent sites for the 1971 superbee (http://www.superbeeregistry.com/ and http://www.71superbee.com/), and he has given me some tips for starting a 1972 Rallye site. Would like to have a better response to setting up a registry, since it is a lot of work for just a few cars.

Todd, how ya been? Yes, we moved if you can beleive it. We had the chace to move back to Cincinnati so we did. Thats why I've not been around lately. Thanks for posting a pic of the old blue smurf, still looks the same except I put a new set of Rallye wheels on it. I still don't know if I like the new look or not.

I believe it was a bench seat. Also, looking at the picture I really don't see high back buckets.

I have a 72 Rallye 440 HT in B1 blue.  I passed up a 72 440 Rallye coupe, bench seat 4-speed (Gold/Black) back in the late 90's for $2,700. Didn't know how rare it was nor did I have the money to buy it anyway. Seen it again 10 yrs later completely restored at Chrysler's at Carlisle. FML

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site and to the Charger i purchased. Its a 72 charger rallye. It hasn't been shipped yet, so i hope everything works out well in transit. I've been a proud owner of a 70 coronet for about 13 years now. Been a mopar fan ever since. I've always had an interest in the chargers. At first just the second gen. But as i grew older and attended various mopar shows the other ones grew on me. My lack of wealth lead me to the 3rd gen charger. I have a basic knowledge of this charger. And after going through my literature on mopar muscle cars , i realized that these 72 rallye's are pretty darn hard to research compared to older models. First off i'd like to ask if anyone could elaborate on where to start my restoration and location of parts.
   Heres the break down of the car as the vin reads and the info that i have on the car so far. the vin reads wh23u2a. Which i was able to decode with help from my year one catalog. Where im confused is with the fender tag, it shows u how to decode it but not what the codes mean. The interior needs restored and its in the original hemi orange paint, one good size dent in the fender but other than that its rust free and pretty clean. Its also missing all the emblems. The bulge hood had the painted decal on it , and the seller said it had a go wing at one time. How would i go about finding out about the wing( original or added on). The seller wasn't certain on that. Also it was a factory a/c car, but the ac is long gone. Where could i find one for this car? I love these cars and am glad to be apart of the charger family. Any help or feedback would be well appreciated.

Congrats on your purchase Larry! Thats a SWEET 72 Rallye you got your hands on! Was actually watching this on ebay myself. As for searching for factory options your car came with, 1st check fender tag (but they may not have every option listed if its a Lynch Rd built car) second look for the broadcast sheet which many times is behind the back rest of the rear seat. You can find lots of parts at swap meets, ebay or craigslist.  Just gotta look around for what you need.  There are many restoration companies that reproduce some hard to find parts also.  Well good luck and keep us posted on your progress and enjoy!
