Year one says the stock high performance cam for a 70 383 was 268int/284ext duration @.050 is this correct?  I am trying to build a street strip motor and was curious that if is the stock cam... a 280-284 duration cam @.050 maybe the right choice... any suggestions?

Whoa, sixt7366!  That's not at 0.050"  That would translate to ~320-325* at .002-ish advertised duration.

I'm pretty sure that I remember the 440 HP cam in my 73 (offspring of the Magnum's/HPs of late 60's) was 268/278* advertised, which is probably equivalent to around 205/210* @ 0.050".

I would think that anything in the 210* @ 0.050" would be about right (not taking into account faster ramp rate of newer cams).

Ron or Neil would know the good gen on cams if you're looking to mimic "stock" HP-like characteristics.

the stock 383 mag cam is 268/284 or 228/241@.050 , .450 /.458 lift 115* CL cam
it works , you could use an Engle grind with 272/ 285 or 224 /238* @ .050 & .504/534 lift ground on 114* CL
the second choice would idle better & offer more lift & would help  with ported heads
