Master cylinder, lot of choices, need opinions

My head is spinning looking at all these, I wish they had just one so it would be easy to choose.

My 69 is going from all drum power brakes to power disc up front, nothing change sin the back.  I'm keeping the original booster and have a Wilwood prop valve so all that is left to buy is a new master cylinder.  The lines need to attach on the fender side, not the engine side.

So which would you recommend?  A Cardone or Raybestos, others?  I was looking at a Raybestos MC36307, is that ok?

What front disc set up did you put on?

An older Wilwood kit that came with the car, new in the box.  10.75" rotors, billet 4 piston calipers.  Since it's a bolt on and my car is a cruiser I'm going to install it this summer.

Call Wilwood. They carry Chrysler style master cylinders. Give them the information and they will tell you which one to use.  :2thumbs:

I did email Wilwood but haven't received a reply yet.  I looked on their website and don't really see any I would want but maybe they don't have the old Chrysler style on the site.

b5blue if reman is something to ignore than it does take some models out of the equation, maybe the raybestos would be the way to go then.  Unless Wilwood comes up with something better.

I searched a bit more on this site and it seems some people are using the Raybestos MC36283.  I'm not sure what the difference is between that one and the MC36307 but I guess the former would be ok as well.  I think I'll be going with that one.  At $55 it's not bad and it'll look good under the hood.

The important thing is to get a master that's for disc/drum with the proper size bore for your application. I think the Wilwood masters have a plastic reservoir but the correct bolt spacing for Chrysler.  They may be able to tell you what bore size you need and then match it to a later factory style unit.

Just got a reply and that is basically what they have.  They would work but are a bit too costly plus they look a bit funny.

The Raybestos MC36283 has a bore size of 1 1/8" while the MC36307 has a bore size of 1 1/32"

Wilwood seems to use a lot of mc's with a bore size of 1 1/8" so I guess that's what I'm going for.  Hopefully it'll work or I'll end up with a $55 paperweight.

Did you ask if it will work? I would collect all the info and get a tech on the phone. Even if you're not going to use their master, you are using their calipers, so they shouldn't have a problem with answering questions.

MC36283=1 1/8 bore, 70 Imperial MC36307=1 1/32 bore 1971 (?)  :2thumbs:
