There is a sort of wire collar with the ends upturned into tangs or prongs sticking up that trigger the turn signal cancelling cam.  I'm not sure the correct name for this wire collar but my question is, should there be two prongs pointing up or one?  I have seen it both ways and wondered which is correct.

tan top

should be two , every wheel i've seen has had one snapped off !  how ?? :shruggy:   them prongs are not exactly flimsey , & they only opperate the  plastic switch   :popcrn:

Okay, for some reason I had always thought the cancelling cam was part of the plastic switch itself.

tan top

well thats what i've always refured to it as  :shruggy: :popcrn:
, because its sort of a cam thats pressed on the back of the steering wheel

just had a dig through some stuff  , did not write the part number down  ,  but it was NOS part i bought from  year one in 89 , was still in a in  shrink wrapped  plastic on brown mopar lettered paper/card stuff , the yearone part number was FD47 (called turn signal cancling cam ) going by the invoice  :yesnod:
also had a NOS turn signal leaver from them too  :yesnod:

just done a quick search  cant find anything on them  :shruggy: strange  , sure i've seen them being repoped somewhere

So the mystery continues, why do some have one and others two?

471_Magnum

There is two types I believe. The later ones have the passing/lane change position. Might be the difference we're seeing.

So the two lug is a lane changer?  When was that introduced?

:2thumbs: :coolgleamA:

that explaines , it then  ,
my turn signal switch was broken, one of the plastic arms were broken off  when  i got the car ,   so had a look & ordered up a NOS switch , leaver &  one of these cancling cam spring thingys ! ( as it looked like one was snapped off too )) so was just thinking thats how they all are  .

yep  lane changing position , thats how mine is !!  you can move the lever about  1/4" of an inch  for left or right turn signal , soon as you let go it springs back , but go further it clicks & cancels when wheel is straightened or manually clicked back

All I know is that they interchange and you can retrofit the later type to an older car. Never messed with it personally. Just something I recall reading once upon a time.
